Curious case of Timo Werner

It is no secret that Chelsea are trying to sell him but he is a classic case of "bad contracts hard to move".   A move to Newcastle may be the best tonic for him to try rebuild his career but we are not going to pay 270k for him and if we do Chelsea must offset it from the demand by practically selling him on the cheap.

15m is about fair, the 12m/season he earns offset as Chelsea want him gone but his value has cratered.

we recently got rid of two players for free just to clear the 85k/pw road block, getting them off was more important than a nominal fee.

Done deal ✅ Timo Werner joins RB Leipzig - confirmed. Clubs agreed on a permanent deal today. Chelsea receive a transfer fee of €30m -  bonuses included. Guarantee fee is €20m. The 26yo striker gonna fly to Germany today. Medical check tomorrow. 🇩🇪#CFC @SPORT1

I do like how Boehly is getting this done. He's removed £575kpw off the wage bill that just would be sitting on the bench in Lukaku and Werner. Kepa, Alonso, and Ziyech up next.

All the best Timo. Can't fault the effort he put in.

Same love Timo, and the mentioned above as well should all move. Only lukaku should never ever return not even as a spectator.
