Haven't seen a great deal but from what I've heard and read he's not really lived up to his early Pirlo hype.

Anyone who compared him to Pirlo shouldn't be taken seriously. Literally just the hair, and people made that comparison.

Far more De Rossi than Pirlo, if he was to be compared to another Italian midfielder. Very combative and energetic. He'll be a huge loss to Milan.

Not a bad player to be compared to in fairness.

Yes. Can operate in a pivot or on his own. The best thing about him is his discipline in positioning and his focus.

A 7/10 player every match week and a captain in the making. Milan are nuts.

while Bruno and Joelinton can defend, they lacked discipline to plug the hole, leaving Schar and Botman more exposed.    We need a guy who can Marshall the line and cover the defense.   He also takes pressure off Trippier as a throw in and free kick taker.

this just screams Eddie Howe type signing

I can live with that

Tbh, I think he's a bit better than Ambrosini - who spent most of his career as a squad player (granted, an important squad player who turned up for a number of important moments in his time at Milan). Although at the time, Milan were a lot better than they are now - so maybe that's unfair on Ambrosini.

I think this would be a very good signing for Newcastle and its a bit of a perplexing decision from Milan's point of view, considering he's supposedly a lifelong Milan fan.
