Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted October 2 Subscriber Posted October 2 Tip your hat to Martinez first and foremost. Villa's defence played outstanding as a whole. Id say we deserved better and probably at least a draw but what do you do. This match had it all. Quote

But wow... if Unai can add a trophy of any kind, there will be no debate left.. the best Villa side I've known of. (since the early 90's) Martinez does not tend to get the credit he warrants. Part because Villa. Part because, yes, he can be a wind up merchant. Tielemans was frustrated this time last year. And now we see why. Making the loss of Douglas Luiz seem a far more trifling side note than it could have been. And Duran. He just needs to keep his feet on the ground. He can be near enough anything he wants to be, if he works for it. Quote

Martinez was the man of the match, he made some incredible saves to prevent Bayern Munich from scoring. We have to credit Villa though, as Duran took his chance very well. Neuer should have known better and stayed on his line, but Duran's finish was excellent. That's was a historic win for Villa and they will be delighted with beating Bayern. All of Bayern, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid lost in the Champions League this evening. In fact, all 3 Spanish clubs lost, as Girona also lost their match. So it certainly wasn't a good day for the Spanish teams in the Champions League. Quote
