Moderator Tommy Posted January 6 Moderator Share Posted January 6 For me this is one of the biggest scandals in recent German politics history. Robert Habeck was on a private vacation, when these idiots, masked as "worried farmers" tried to storm the ferry he was on. The thing is, even though he was on vacation, he wanted to allow 2-3 people to come on board to talk to him, but they refused, because they were just there to provoke and intimidate. Because the situation was so dangerous, the ferry had to leave and dock ship in another harbour, hours later. Right wing politicians like Nazischlampe Alice Weidel later tweeted that Habeck "fled from the protest instead of looking for a dialogue", when in fact he offered them the opportunity for a dialogue but they refused, because they had nothing else in mind than violence or intimidation. I am slowly losing my mind about what is happening in this country.

Abolishing the agriculturally used diesel tax privilege, whilst retaining the tax exemption on kerosene and the company/administerial car tax privilege is questionable, to tell the least. Especially true, since both smells of politicians keeping their own fiscal subventions, while scrapping those of others. Rucksackfranzose
Just read news, I'd missed when they were more highly current. Leading AFD politician is brought to court for "using symbols of unconstitutional and terroristic organisations" because the infamous SA slogan "Alles für Deutschland" (translates to "Everything for Germany") in a public speech. Thought that might interest you @OrangeKhrush since you said there were no fascist tendencies in the AFD whilst repeatedly calling the governmental parties Nazi without any calms. PS: In case you don't know who SA were, just google them. You can colour me surprised, if the English speaking first research site wouldn't suply them given foreigners obsession with that part of German history. Deutschland Uber alles was banned due to its connection to the national socialists party, it was however just the Uber alles was removed/replaced. All for Germany or everything for Germany is a tough one to sell as endemically nazi, civic nationalism is not illegal. I will read up on SA but may need a bit more accuracy for Google as SA will throw up a metric ton of other results If a politician uses any symbolism to destructive regimes be it nazism or leninism maoism the individual should be banned from the party

You never came to the idea an opinion you hold without really knowing the background should perhaps being kept for yourself since it might have no connection to reality. May I guess you don't know, who "SA" were, indeed? Then you shouldn't have tried to teach me my country's history and legal situiation? Never to late to learn just google "Sturmabteilung". Obviously it is spreading in Europe what is it like in Germany? They're pretty strong at the moment, as shitty as it is. It's even even foreseeable they might become the second strongest party, if, what's not excluded, they won't not even become the most votes in the three East German regional parliaments, that are to be elected this year. Not as popular in the Western parts as in former East Germany, though, therefore they're polling around 16%. Which is still much too much for a fascist party. Edit: Their parlamentary work has been abysmal, two of their leading figures are suspected to have been spying for China and Russia respectively, they're accumulating scandals like no other party. Still about 14% of the electorate are apparently thinking they were a sensible choice to vote. If it wouldn't be so seriously problematic, it had an amusing potential. Rucksackfranzose
Well, if Thuringia's coutry palament constituent meeting is an indicator of this regional parlament's future operation mode Thuringia is in for either very turbulent 5 years or new elections coming soon. Because of the other parties doubting AFD's right to exclusively propose the new parlment's speaker as biggest faction turmoil rose and this meeting has been cancelled and postponed. Now the other factions appealed Thuringia's to Constitutional Court to decide whether this exclusivety is in line with the Bundesland's constitution. Of course it's debattable whether the other factions disputing the old and, as far as I know, never opposed right of the biggest faction to propose and provide the speaker, which is, as far as I know, unprecedented, is democratic, onone hand. On the other a party, that are classified as definetly unconstitutional by secret service, providing a Landtag's speaker would be as well. As is the parlament's senior president, who's an AFD member ignoring other faction's motions for rules of procedure and engaging in political debattes with them. Usually the senior's president only funtion is being chairmam of the speaker's election and there's been a long standing tradition of him being absolutely neutral. Now it'll take a while until that meetig can be continued, with the old country government staying comminionary in office. Either way this sets a desastrous example. Well, according to German media, that means FDP will leave the government (good) and probably new elections on the horizon, which is definetively less good, since the AFD fascists and BSW oddballs are on an up at the moment. Although, to be honest, that government coming to an end was foreseeable and inevitable in the end with FDP playing opposition within the administration continously. Rucksackfranzose
SPD decided their top candidate for the next election; and it's chancellor Olaf Scholz. In light of his desastrous survey ratings that's probably the final nail in their popularity coffin. Can honestly see them ending up as party with only third most voters in general elections for the first time since WWII, now.
