Max will have it very hard though. He might take Lewis at the start if everything goes his way but Mercedes are very strong on the mediums and their race pace will be superior to that of RB now that the temperatures have dropped. Still hoping for the rain.
MUFC Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Just hope Max can stretch out a good stint, but after the stop Merc will switch to faster tires.

Moderator Tommy Posted July 28, 2019 Moderator Posted July 28, 2019 40% chance of rain at the race start, and 70% an hour into the race. Fingers crossed!

It's apparently been raining for about two hours now; very heavy at first and lighter now but the track is soaking... *keeps on doing the rain dance*

nudge Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Still raining heavily and according to the weather radar it should continue throughout the race!

nudge Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Apparently the drivers have no experience with these wet tyres and very few with the the intermediates. Vettel, Leclerc, Verstappen and Gasly did tests for Pirelli with the 2020 wet tyres so might have a sliiiiiiight advantage?

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 28, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 28, 2019 Is this seriously the first wet running of the year?

The track will be ready for intermediates by the time the wet wipes start the race so might as well save yourself the pit stop.
nudge Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 RB starts on wet tyres, just confirmed by Helmut Marko.
