xD that's absolutely fucking dog shit from England. Where were they all?

You can't say that the Czechs don't deserve the lead, they've had most of the chances, even though England did have a few dangerous efforts themselves. But overall, the Czechs have been the better team. Well the Czechs are the 2nd best team in the group after England, Southgate will have to try and improve the team in the upcoming qualifiers though. The midfield and defence need to improve.

They were better than us throughout. That was the eye opener we needed. We will get turned over easily the minute we hit anyone decent.

That was a terrible performance. Struggling to think of a single positive.

Embarrassing scenes celebrating like that xD

Weird thing is they have a better record in the euros than us. Would think they had never qualified the way they celebrated

I always think it's strange when pundits say "I don't understand why he made that mistake" they know full well why he made it. He had a second to think about it and made the wrong decision. They did it when they played

Chambers & Holding is the CB partnership this country needs. :coffee:

Seriously though, Southgate needs to stop persisting with players that don't perform. Michael Keane should not be near the starting line-up. Danny Rose had one good season and that was some time ago. Bin both of them. Southgate might come across as a great guy but he's also a bit of a coward when it comes to cutting players from the squad.

To be fair, the Czechs are a decent side and like I said on paper, the 2nd best team in the group. It's the elite and the top tier teams that England will have serious problems against, if this is their standard.

Southgate needs to get the balance right. Rice, Mount and Henderson were 2nd best in midfield tonight in front of the Czechs and the England defence struggled. England's trump card is their world class attack, but that's not enough to always win games as we saw tonight. An improvement in the midfield is vital for England. It may be too soon for the likes of Rice and Mount to be starting for England, because neither impressed tonight.

Come on you can't knock them celebrating, that's a massive win for them and likely the one that'll have them at the tournament.

I totally agree, this is a big win for a small nation like the Czech Republic. They haven't done too well in recent years compared to 10 plus years ago, when they had a very good team. But now they are producing some very talented players who are looking decent and work well in the team. I thought they played well tonight against a team full of Premier League players. They have every right to be happy with the win against a big name team like England(Yes, England are very much respected overseas!).

Couple of fist pumps maybe? Pats on the back? You’d have thought they’d won the Euros.

Czech Republic aren’t minnows mate. They’re obviously not what they used to be, but let’s not pretend they’re a poor footballing nation.

I definitely think we have improved under Southgate. But I still think we will loose against the first big nation we play in the euros unless we don't get a good team until the semis. Think we would have a good chance at Wembley though

He's really not. Out of all the managers we have had he has made those difficult decisions more than most. He was the one who cut Rooney.

They also play together a lot. I don't know about tonight but when we played them at Wembley 8 of those players played for Slavia prague. Having that many players who play together can make up for lack of talent

Des, do you still live in Brighton? lol

They do have a rich footballing history, but they haven't had a win over a big side like England for years. So it's not surprising they are celebrating this win, as their current generation seem to be clicking and now finally getting some good results. They have missed out on qualifying for the last 3 World Cups and they were generally poor at the last European Championships finishing bottom of their group.

For them to get a good win against a perceived big team like England, is a real psychological boost for this young team. I thought they thoroughly deserved the win, they scored 2 goals from open play and they had other decent chances. England only scored from a penalty and looked poor. This Czech team have some very good players like Schick and they have the potential to improve, so there is a lot to look forward to from their perspective.
