That’s such shit defending from Villa, if it’s disallowed then they will be lucky.

Game over. The little glimpse of attacking Villa showed in the first half has been non existent this half. Pisses me off seeing that. When they went forward they gave city problems so why abandon it completely?

There have always been teams that gamed and got around the offside rule by relentlessly having loads of runners straying offside and making it impossible to reliably enforce.

I thought VAR would stop that, but here we are.

Sterling was offside and blocked the keepers view/interferes with play, has to be offside?

It's only offside if Silva touched it  ..they have given the goal to De Bruyne so..

Imagine the outcry if this was Liverpool xD

Wouldn't be any outcry, not like we have won 1-0 is it?

To be fair, this thread would be 3-4 pages if it was Liverpool. Gulf.

The thing about the offside is that, regardless of whether Silva touches the ball or not, he is playing the ball. For the purposes of offside, I thought going for the ball constitutes a new phase of play.

And when Silva does that, Sterling is offside and obviously affecting the goalkeeper.

Its far more of an advantage than some of the offsides we've seen where goals have been chalked off for somebody's heel being microscopically offside.

They've apparently given the goal to Silva, with De Bruyne getting the assist, meaning that Silva's touched it.

So in that case we won 2-0 instead

Obviously momentum has an effect at 1-0 it’s more of a contest at 2-0 it’s virtually over.

Nevefmind we’ve had 8 shite decisions so far with VAR, hopefully it levels out during the second half of the season.

We have had a fair few wrong decisions against us too, this VAR still needs a lot of work it would seem
