  1. Think it deserves a separate topic... James Webb Space Telescope will be the largest and most powerful space science telescope ever constructed. Remember the Hubble Space Telescope? Well, JWST is designed to observe a part of space and time never seen before, the epoch when the very first stars and galaxies formed over 13.5 billion years ago. In order to do this, Webb will have a much larger primary mirror (6.5m diameter) than Hubble, giving it more light-gathering power. It also will have infrared instruments with longer wavelength coverage and greatly improved sensitivity than Hubble. Finally, Webb will operate much farther from Earth, maintaining its extremely cold operating temperature, stable pointing and higher observing efficiency than with the Earth-orbiting Hubble. The Webb mission, an international partnership of NASA, ESA (European Space Agency) and the Canadian Space Agency, will explore every phase of cosmic history – from within the solar system to the most distant observable galaxies in the early universe, and everything in between. JWST will also be a powerful tool for studying the nearby universe. Scientists will use it to study planets and other bodies in our solar system to determine their origin and evolution and compare them with exoplanets, planets that orbit other stars. It will also observe exoplanets located in their stars’ habitable zones, the regions where a planet could harbor liquid water on its surface, and can determine if and where signatures of habitability may be present. Using a technique called transmission spectroscopy, the observatory will examine starlight filtered through planetary atmospheres to learn about their chemical compositions. JWST is targeted to launch at 12:20 p.m. GMT Friday, Dec. 24, on an Arianespace Ariane 5 rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, on the northeastern coast of South America. Weather-related delays are possible, a new update should be released on December 21st.

  3. Anyone likes pixelart? Came across this guy recently, and I love his stuff. It's like I can feel this picture with all of my senses.

  4. Vaccine scientists are also specifically that because that is their profession. They are highly skilled and research/experiment in that area. The threshold for vaccine approvals is also ridiculously high. It's not like they just concoct a cocktail of chemicals and swing it through wishing for the best. The fact they work for private companies shouldn't be enough to put anyone off getting a vaccine. In fact it's a pretty weak excuse. Don't recall the Bell's Pausy thing. Maybe it wasn't that big a thing to be affected by on a grand scale hence it's also not a wholesale reason to not get the vaccine. That's just conjecture to think professionals in the health industry 'had seen' something. I think it was just the terms of being vaccinated in healthcare so that they could continue to look after those that are suffering, with COVID or not because they work in that environment. You'd rather have staff at your disposal that won't suffer serious illness (or at least less likely to) from a deadly virus, wouldn't you? Matt Le Tissier is a beacon of reason now, is he? What expertise does he have over any of us, or any other Karen off Facebook? I'd rather believe and trust a vaccine scientist who has potentially worked for several years on how to prevent death and severe illness, as opposed to a footballer who's been knocked about and roughed up for several years. The only thing I'd ask Le Tissier for advice on is how to take penalties. Other than that, he can pretty much fuck off when it comes to vaccines or virology.

  8. Thats just it, we're talking 50 year old league records. Ill get red in the face talking about the different ways he can score goals; volleys, backheels, anything inside the box, headers, outside the box, penalties, freekicks even he added it he last few years. His holdup play and passing is underrated as well. Hes just so well rounded on top of it all. Ive had the pleasure of watching nearly every Bayern match and see him develop into the player he is, its really been something special.

  9. He really is something special. I don't buy the 'it's only Bundesliga' dullard argument. On the flip side of that, if it was so easy, why has no one else ever done it? He's clearly quite talented - one thing I love the most is he will score any kind of goal. Get the ball in to him in the box and he's ever so reliable to finish a chance. Van Nistelrooy was famed for being the 'fox in the box' kind of striker when he played for Man Utd. Lewandowski is similar style but far ahead on quality. Never generally understood the argument against someone who literally does the job (extremely well at that) of doing the thing that wins games - scoring goals. If he wasn't scoring, to even a fraction of the rate he is doing so now, he'd no doubt be criticised.

  14. Well technically it's very normal of viruses to go on forever in the background but yes our own activities determine the spread. AIDS and Covid are alike in the way you can contain the spread by choosing less risky behaviours i.e condoms, vaccines but the former is still at large even after decades, covid will probably be the same bcz people don't like being told what to do. Best hope is nature itself dilutes the virus to less serious form.
