  2. Well, first of all, Bayern's standards are as high as they get and the board only expect the best. With the squad that they had available this season, winning the league was paramount. Leverkusen are indeed an excellent team this season, still undefeated and they are playing some superb football. Losing to Leverkusen would have been one thing, but I think the manner in which they comprehensively lost to Leverkusen and how they were really outclassed is what was surprising for some. Moreover, Bayern have also lost to the likes of Bochum and Werder Bremen this season in the Bundesliga and they got absolutely smashed and outplayed by Frankfurt 5-1. Some of Bayern's results in the Champions League haven't been great either, drawing at home to Copenhagen wasn't great and most recently losing to Lazio was another disappointment. In fact Bayern have lost their last 3 matches in a row, when was the last time this happened to Bayern? Given the money they spent and some of the top quality players that they have in their team, the board would have expected better. This is obviously a top Bayern team and they're still in the hunt for the Bundesliga title and the Champions League. However, such are Bayern's standards, I think expectations were slightly higher than what we've seen from some of Bayern's performances this season.
  3. It's a shame that Tuchel has not lived up to expectations at Bayern. I thought highly of him when he was manager at Mainz, Dortmund and PSG.
  4. He can't be as dumb as some of the pundits we have here in English football, not naming and names cough cough Paul cough Merson.
  5. I've also read and seen that he has a bit of a temper on him and that he is a little bit arrogant as well. Which is a shame, given how many people admired how good he was as a footballer and he was indeed an excellent footballer, one of the best ever.
  6. After the sad recent deaths of Franz Beckenbauer and Andreas Brehme, the following article examines what the other key players of West Germany's 1990 World Cup winning squad are doing today. Andreas Brehme I believe is the very first player of that great West German team to have passed away, while Franz Beckenbauer was of course the manager of that successful team. A playboy captain who married - and divorced - FIVE times, a Masked Singer contestant and a Covid conspiracy theorist: After Andreas Brehme died aged 63, where are Germany's World Cup heroes of 1990 now? | Daily Mail Online Lothar Matthaus has certainly been busy with women over the last 30 years since he won the World Cup. He has been married 5 times and his last wife Anastasia Klimko was apparently 27 years younger than him. They divorced in 2021, having gotten married in 2014. No doubt that Matthaus, who is now like 63, will still be looking for more relationships with much younger women.
  7. I only saw this news on the BBC site just now. This is really sad and it is a really tough one to take. Andreas Brehme was a true legend for the West German and German national teams. He starred for Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Real Zaragoza at club level. But I mainly remember him being a key player at Kaiserslautern during the 90's when watching them as a kid. Brehme was obviously an integral part for most of the German national teams of the 80's and 90's. Brehme's West Germany lost to Argentina in the 1986 World Cup final, but 4 years later when West Germany met Argentina again at the 1990 World Cup final, it was Brehme who scored that famous penalty that won West Germany the World Cup that year. It's so sad to hear this unexpected death of Brehme at the age of only 63 due to a cardiac arrest. My thoughts go out to his close friends and family. R.I.P. Andreas Brehme

  10. Nigeria faced the hosts the Ivory Coast in the final of the African Cup of Nations. Troost-Ekong gave Nigeria the lead in the first half with a brave headed goal. But the Ivory Coast equalised in the 2nd half, with a powerful Franck Kessie headed goal aimed at the near post. The Nigerian keeper got a hand to Kessie's header, but he couldn't stop it from going into the net. Sebastian Haller would then score the Ivory Coast's 2nd goal, as he cleverly flicked Adingra's cross with his right foot into the far corner of the Nigerian net. Haller's goal was a superb end to the match as the Ivory Coast would hold on to win the African Cup of Nations final and the whole competition. Ivory Coast 2-1 Nigeria
  11. Well Qatar defeated Jordan 3-1 in the final in the end. Qatar got a penalty after Akram Afif was brought down in the area and it was Afif himself who got up and scored from the penalty. Jordan equalised in the 2nd half, after Al-Naimat with his first touch, controlled a cross to him with his right foot and then smashed the ball into the net with his second touch which was with his left foot. But Qatar were awarded their 2nd penalty after Ismael Mohammed was brought down in the penalty area and Akram Afif stepped up once again and struck the penalty home beautifully to score his and Qatar's 2nd goal of the match, which put them in the lead once again. Then in injury time, Afif was brought down in the penalty area by the Jordanian keeper and Qatar were awarded their 3rd penalty. Afif duly stepped up and scored his 3rd penalty goal of the match to complete his hattrick and seal the win for Qatar. So Qatar defended their title and are Asian Cup winners once again. Qatar 3-1 Jordan
  12. In the semi-finals, Jordan faced South Korea in the first match. Jordan deservedly took the lead at the start of the 2nd half as Al-Tamari superbly put Al-Naimat through on goal and Al-Naimat chipped the ball over the Japanese keeper to score for Jordan. Then Jordan's star player Al-Tamari scored himself with arguably the goal of the tournament. Al-Tamari took possession well in Jordan's own half, he then went on a mazy run past several Japanese players, he skipped past a tackle and then shot from outside the Japanese penalty box with an accurate finish that found the corner of the net. Al-Tamari's goal made it 2-0 to Jordan and that's how the match would finish. Jordan sealed their place in the final of the Asian Cup for the very first time in their history. Jordan 2-0 Japan Qatar took on Iran in the other match of this stage and Iran took an early lead as Azmoun scored with a clever overhead kick. Qatar would equalise soon after that goal though, as a Gaber shot from outside the area took a deflection and found the back of the net. Qatar would turn the match around just before half-time as Akram Afif scored with a lovely strike. Afif took possession of the ball just outside the Iranian penalty area, he cut inside and unleashed a rocket of a shot towards the far post that the Iranian keeper had no chance of saving. Afif's goal meant that Qatar went into half-time with a lead. However, Iran were awarded a penalty in the 2nd half and Jahanbaksh scored from the penalty to level the scores at 2-2. But Qatar would have the last say, as Almoez Ali collected the ball in the penalty area, spun and shot at goal with an accurate finish that found the bottom hand corner of the net. That goal gave Qatar a 3-2 lead and that's how the match finished. Qatar 3-2 Iran
  13. In the last of the quarter finals Qatar beat Uzbekistan on penalties after drawing 1-1. Al Haydos gave Qatar the lead in the 1st half, but an accurate finish from Hamrobekov in the 2nd half, levelled the scores for Uzbekistan in the 2nd half. The match eventually went to penalties after extra time and Qatar prevailed 3-2 in the shoot-out over Uzbekistan to advance to the semi-finals. Qatar 1-1(Qatar won 3-2 on penalties) Uzbekistan In the other quarter final, Iran took on Japan. Japan took the lead in the 1st half through a nice solo goal by Morita. But Iran would equalise in the 2nd half through an accurate finish from Mohebi. Deep into the 6th minute of injury time at the end of the match, Iran were awarded a penalty, which Jahanbaksh scored from to give Iran the late win. Iran 2-1 Japan
  14. There is a big top of the table clash in La Liga today, as Real Madrid host Girona. Real Madrid are the favourites to win at home, especially as Girona have a few injury worries, but Girona have shown themselves to be a force to be reckoned with throughout this La Liga season. Girona have defeated most teams that have stood in their way in style and have always looked strong. Girona always create dangerous chances to score, so Real Madrid will have to be wary of that. 3 Ukrainian players are also set to start in this match, as Dovbyk and Tsyhankov will start for Girona, while Lunin is likely to start for Real Madrid. One thing is for sure, this top of the table encounter is likely to be very entertaining.

    Tap Water

    Tap Water

I've always drunk bottled mineral water as an adult. Although as a child we drunk filtered tap water or even tap water which we didn't filter. Most of my friends and family drink tap water, but I always buy mineral water, again because I don't fully trust the cleanliness of the tap water as it can get contaminated at times. Although the water is treated, on occasion rust can mix with the water or particles can be found in the water when works are being done on the water supplies. Moreover, our water is treated with Chlorine to kill the harmful bacteria and Limescale can also be found in our tap water. Potential substances in our tap water could also include lead, microplastics, drugs, synthetic hormones and harmful bacteria. For these reasons, I prefer to play safe and drink bottled mineral water. Although bottled mineral water does contain microplastics. So it's almost impossible to get extremely pure and clean water unless you drink your water from a natural spring every day. In my opinion, the best solution is to filter your bottled mineral water. That will at least make the water you drink quite pure and clean. Filtering the water will at the very least get rid of most of the microplastics in the bottled mineral water.

  19. The Australia v South Korea match was another really entertaining match. The two top Asian region sides battled it out in a tough encounter. Australia scored first when Craig Goodwin powerfully volleyed home a cross at the far post to give Australia the lead in the 1st half. South Korea would find the equaliser deep into injury time at the end of the match, as Son Heung-min was brought down in the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty. Hwang stepped up and hammered the penalty into the net to equalise for the Koreans. The match went into extra time and a superb free-kick goal by Son Heung-min would secure the win for South Korea. South Korea move into the semi-finals having beaten two Asian powerhouses in Saudi Arabia and Australia to get. there. In both matches they were a goal down for most of the match, before finding an equaliser deep into injury time. Against Saudi Arabia the South Koreans would go on to win on penalties and against Australia, some Son magic from a free-kick would give them the winning goal. They have had a very tough route and they have shown a lot of character to come back in their matches when the odds looked against them. In Son Heung-min, Hwang Hee-chan and Lee Kang-in they have some very talented players. South Korea are the team I want to win this competition now. It would also be nice to see Klinsmann and his backroom staff of Herzog and Kopke also win this trophy with South Korea. Australia 1-2 South Korea In the other quarter final, Jordan defeated Tajikistan 1-0. A header from Jordan's defender Nasib came off of the Tajikistan player and found itself into the back of the net to give Jordan the lead. Jordan had the better chances in the match and they deservedly earned the win. Al-Tamari, Naimat and Olwan were all as dangerous as ever up front and this Jordan side can be a real threat to any team in Asia. They have made history for themselves by advancing to the semi-finals. Tajikistan 0-1 Jordan
