    NFL

They wear protection because Teddy Roosevelt made them wear it in the 1900s. It used to be more similar to rugby but the entire sport was essentially a free-for-all maul, with few rules on how and what a tackle is, players often died. Instead of adjusting the rules and learning to tackle safely; the forward pass and helmets were added. What the players wear now is just the evolution of that.

Australia has boycotted Afghanistan to the ire of Rashid Khan, who is calling for ‘no politics in cricket’. So I can assume he would be against the 25 year boycott of apartheid South Africa

Alright, I think I'm going to Leeds @Lucas. For some reason Day 5 tickets are on sale, only a few pound each, if the match goes to five days, I'm dreaming and the flights are cheaper than London. I figured I'd just try the box office every morning to see if there are spare tickets on sale, failing that I'd just go to a pub and drink all day. Can you confirm if Headingly sells tickets on the box office? I know Lord's refuses to, so I'd like to know in advance. While the premium tickets are nice, I'm just not interested in corporate box seating at all. I'd rather not go.

Looks like I'll have to buy a 'premium' ticket. Headingly would be the cheapest at 275 pound for a day one but I don't want to sit in a fucking suite. The only other way is if someone were to sell me their ticket.

Leeds Manchester etc aren’t that big in my opinion. It’s more the mega cities like London and New York I avois.

Thanks for the input guys, Lord’s sounds a bit stiff but I figured as much.
  11. UK is the only place that has taxed me so highly using a flight credit or reward miles
  12. Does anyone know the crack on this £500 airport tax? @Dr. Gonzo you were in UK recently know what that’s all about? Seems like post-COVID tax harvesting

Thanks guys, What place would be the friendliest/most welcoming? Not just the town but the cricket crowds.

Now are these actually ‘towns’ or just a constituent piece of land that’s been swallowed up by a greater urban area? If I were to drive from the city centre of Manchester to Altrincham would their be countryside or just endless suburban sprawl of towns upon towns ?

I’m not staying anywhere that isn’t a decent hotel. I will probably be with my wife and I’m not staying somewhere with no privacy. I’m not overly interested in London to be honest, large cities aren’t my cup of tea these days. I prefer the rural life, and London seems daunting to me. But beggar’s can’t be choosers.

No, I’m being harsh, I’m not interested in Birmingham but Edgbaston is also a fine place. I’m visiting for the Ashes not the towns.

I’m looking to visit England for the Ashes series. Any advice on accomodation and the grounds I’d appreciate. I’m not sold any particular ground, Lord’s is preferred but London isn’t. The only place I’ve written off is Birmingham, I’ve no interest at all in Birmingham and Edgbaston. @DeadLinesmanManchester @Danny London @Lucas Leeds
  18. what the fuck are you on about? Barcelona have legitimately jeopardised their future by selling it off for a lesser return. Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Tottenham, PSG, Bayern, Juventus, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, all use hundreds of millions to assemble their team, and Newcastle will join that list too.

I can’t post in your thread and I already typed it out @Toinho Food: You can literally find good food anywhere, if you can’t you are either picky or not looking well Chicago is flush with everything, if you want you can find it.Honestly, though I never had a bad thing in Montreal and the coffee was unreal. Culture: I don’t really know what this means. Friendliness? Probably rural Australia where what you see is what you get, for better and worse. Nightlife: I’m not much of a nightlife guy and my nightlife years were 18-21 but fuck did I go hard in the Valley in Brisbane. Fuck yeah. History:The historic sites in Manila were strange, such a cross section between Spanish, Chinese, Indigenous, and American influence. You can literally see in parts of the country where different cultures were present. Then in the bay Corrigedor Island is a time warp to WW2 Cleanliness: Depends what you mean, in terms of tidiness of the urban sprawl I find Australian cities to be tidy in general. Of course not everywhere is perfect but for the most part they do a good job. Natural beauty: Sunshine Coast hinterland probably.
