Also, shockingly Habs beat the Sharks last night in San Jose...for the first time since 97 I believe. That is shocking..

Oh, and Quenneville has resigned amid the Blackhawks abuse case. Probably the end of his storied career.

They are technically in Glendale, no? They used to be called Phoenix Coyotes so I stick with that.

@Spike and @Viva la FCB Off topic from the Blackhawks woes, but how much longer do you think the NHL will stick with the Coyotes experiment. Seems like a project that won't be successful long term and I wonder just how much longer Betman is going to work his ass off on keeping the Coyotes in Phoenix.

I love Toews, I do, but if you take away 2018/19, then he averages roughly 55-60pts a year. Not bad, but certainly not elite. He brings a lot more than points, and I understand that, but his point total just hasn't been up to the amount of cap hit that he takes up. I said I like Debrincat and Kubalik a lot, both are good players. Ha, I don't know what I was thinking about with Strome, so just ignore that all together, although I'm vaguely sure I was thinking of Bobby Ryan for some unknown reason. Seth Jones isn't based on this year, but his last fewColumbus years, where he was okay. Not great, certainly not bad, but not the Seth Jones we saw in those Nashville and early Columbus days. Hopefully it's a system issues and he gets his form back, as I really like the guy. I understand what you are saying about MAF, but I think feel like he's underrated. He has been pushed out of his job despite being an elite goalie for a long time. Just seems like no matter how good he is, people continue to focus on the negative aspects of his game, always has boggled my mind about that. As for the last paragraph of players, maybe so, but I think some of them haven't played enough to really understand their impact. Maybe I was harsh in my assessment in having a really poor roster, but it's not great or even playoff level, unless we see some players have some exceptional years.

Roster is what it is, but I don't think it's all that good. Kane is elite, no doubt. Toews fell off big time with injuries and his strange sickness, and just haven't been near his same form. DeBrincat is good, and I do like him, and I actually like Kubalik on the front line as well. I expected more from Strome after his Ottawa days, and Tyler Johnson just doesn't have the speed he did 5 years ago and that was one of his biggest traits. Seth Jones certainly isn't bad, but it's not worth the $9.5m cap hit he'll have next year. MAF, very underrated goalie, but also 36 so he naturally just isn't the same goalie he was 5-10 years ago.

Great night last night as Braves defeated the cheating Astros in Game 1. Game 2 is currently going on, and Braves are down 5-2, and this team is special enough is many ways so I'm not too worried. Chop Chop

I'll also say, I much preferred the divisions from last year. Having the all Canadian division was fun, unique, and rather exciting. Sure it got old playing one another each and every week, but the games just felt different, and each game seemed to have more on the line... Plus we dominated the Canucks which helped us get into the playoffs.

Crazy what has gone on in Chicago and how quickly the mighty Bowman has fallen. Cap strapped and now this, with a roster that is one of the worst in the league and now back in the news except for the worst of reasons. Absolutely awful what's going on, and I think @Spike is right, I think Quenville is going to get fired after his meeting tomorrow with Bettman. Also crazy, are the scenes in Montreal. Not only did they stupidly give Ducharme a 3 year extension when everyone and their grandmother knew it wasn't HIM that took us to the Stanley Cup finals, but now Shea Weber has been put on LTIR for one of his numerous injuries, and just yesterday with the media, Drouin made comments that Shea Weber is already 'retired'. I'm not sure of the punishments, but I'm sure there would be some if Montreal were caught putting players on LTIR, thus freeing up cap space, instead of them retiring and getting that cap hit. I was reading about the numbers and the hit if Shea were to retire, and while it would be a hit for Montreal, it would crush Nashville as they are still on the line for some of the contract and don't have the space to take on Shea's retirement, but even looking at it now, Nashville will be hit with a $4.6m tag if Shea retires, and that will be on the books until 2026, but Nashville has the space, but certainly would be handicapped for that contract. Regardless, with Paul Byron and Shea Weber on LTIR, and the Price in the Player's Assistance Program, we have just over $20m worth of players unable to play. This Price and Weber contract is really going to hamstring the Canadiens until they are off the books in 2026/27.

Just added another race to my 2022 Calendar, and thinking of pulling the trigger on another one. The one I just signed up for in in the desert in Las Vegas, and it's just a marathon. The race is in January so the heat won't be terrible but I've heard that this is a beautiful and small race so I'm looking forward to it. Now, onto the race that I'm on the fence about. It's a famous Ultra called the QMT (Québec Mega Trail), and it's a 100m race in July outside of Montreal. Here is a couple of videos of this race, and it looks absolutely stunning.
  12. Indeed that is the one. Simply brilliant depiction of his life.
  13. Yes yes yes yes. Cillian is a great choice as well. Read the biography on Oppenheimer and it was fantastic. Very interesting man, who felt tormented by his own creation. Can't wait.

Here is Chief Noc-a-Homa in his Tipi And then Chief and Princess having a chat.

Correct - Here is what I found - Native American men who were well trained and prepared to defend their homeland and families.

    NFL

Nope. Name came from when the team moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta. Back in the day, we used to have two mascots, both native Americans. One was Chief Noc-A-Homa and his Princess Win-A-Lotta No shit.

We have an awful history in terms of how we treated native Americans, so I think the idea is to remove all licensing from professional teams. Braves, Indians, Chiefs, Seminoles, and the countless others. I'm not really bothered. It'd be weird to not be the Atlanta Braves one day, but we'll be alright. When the day comes, I hope we become the Atlanta Hammers, in honor of the greatest baseball player ever, Hammerin' Hank.

Almost all team names that are in reference to native Americans and currently being asked to change them. I am waiting until our baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, have to change their name.

I completely agree with both points, but I was think they might take a flier on Tarasenko, and I was hoping they would take Price as that contract is a major handicap for the Canadiens. Maybe, but he's massive for Montreal and I love how stable and consistent he is. He was an add on, but I could have added Keith, Aho, or a lot more of different hockey players that I enjoy. Now I have learned that Provorov (Fliers) is also from Yaroslavl, so he replaces Petry on the list.

No doubt, but #2 and #3 are from my Mom's hometown in Russia, and they would certainly be the odd ones on the list. The rest are probably pretty common.

  24. Absolutely. Hell, include a proper education into WWII and instead of touting America has the dominant force that won the war, talk about the countries who's land it was fought on, who had to constantly protect their citizens while also attacking, not just flying over a pond and attacking from afar.
