I completely agree with both points, but I was think they might take a flier on Tarasenko, and I was hoping they would take Price as that contract is a major handicap for the Canadiens. Maybe, but he's massive for Montreal and I love how stable and consistent he is. He was an add on, but I could have added Keith, Aho, or a lot more of different hockey players that I enjoy. Now I have learned that Provorov (Fliers) is also from Yaroslavl, so he replaces Petry on the list.

No doubt, but #2 and #3 are from my Mom's hometown in Russia, and they would certainly be the odd ones on the list. The rest are probably pretty common.
  3. Darwin is probably on the Banned Book List.
  4. I wonder if Flat Earth Theory will be taught. Certainly THAT is more controversial than the Holocaust
  5. Absolutely. Hell, include a proper education into WWII and instead of touting America has the dominant force that won the war, talk about the countries who's land it was fought on, who had to constantly protect their citizens while also attacking, not just flying over a pond and attacking from afar.
  6. Fair point. The Article says it's a 'directive', so not a law.
  7. So, who is watching tomorrow? First match in the new stadium, should be epic. The most loved Bundesliga team vs the most hated team, so I know where everyone's loyalties lie.
  8. Texas is having themselves one hell of a year. First, it was their abortion law, which made it illegal for women to have an abortion after cardiac activity was detected, which is around six weeks and OFTEN occurs before a woman knows she is in fact, pregnant. And to keep this in fact, they have 'deputized' citizens to self clinics or women going about an abortion and then legal action will be taken. Now, they are requiring schools to provide books to their kids on each side of the argument on what they deem is a 'controversial' topic. This seems like a good idea personally, as I enjoy looking at both sides myself, however, in a record from a school's meeting, a 'controversial topic is....the holocaust. https://www.yahoo.com/news/teachers-told-offer-books-opposing-180003000.html Sometimes I'm reminded of this feeling I've had since I was a kid, which is I don't belong here. Texas, the state that loves Trump, guns, walls, and pretending they are bigger than the country as a whole.

Everyone did. hahah Fair play man, there is a book called the Russian Five about that group of guys, it's an awful book in terms of the writing, but the story (which is true) is crazy.

@Tommy - I didn't know you were a Red Wings fan? My family are because of the famous "Russian Five" days, and I love watching the great Fedorov coaching CSKA in the KHL. The story of how Detroit got the Russian Five out of Russia, smuggling them out of the Soviet Union, is crazy enough to be fiction.

I think mine top NHL players are - 1. Ovi 2. Anisimov (although currently a FA) 3. Tarasenko (although I despise the Blues) 4. Jonny Toews 5. Jeff Petry *Cole Caufield is catching up quickly*

Larkin is alright. We was a STUD in college, and I half expected more of him this far into his career, but the talent around him is....well missing.

Looks like you have a new favorite player.

Agreed. And he's a great player to watch. And I've never heard of his hometown. Verisen?

One of my favorite young talents is the German, Tim Stützle. When he scored his first NHL hat trick during COVID without fans, this happened. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=227111122548832
  16. Been hearing that the series ' To The Lake' on Netflix is good. Also has Krill in it which is one of my favorite Russian (although I think he is actually from Estonia) actors. I think it came out in 2019 so needless to say, this is a bit eerie about a pandemic.
  17. Not always - Guy was going to go to the game with his girl for Valentine's Day, she cancelled, so he took his sister and a piece of paper.
  18. A lot of similarities between the German and Russian mentality. Much prefer it to the dance of some countries.

I plan on signing up this week for the Great Southern Endurance Run which is a 100km race starting on top of Kennesaw Mountain, running through Atlanta, and then ending on Stone Mountain. Unlike most ultras, this one is NOT mostly dirt and trails, but will be mostly asphalt. The cool thing is that my oldest sister lives right near Kennesaw Mountain, and my Dad lives in Stone Mountain, so that'll be nice to have family and friends at the start and the finish. Race is April 30, 2022.

Great time to be a duck.
  22. Cheers - but it's not for me, but the missus. She has finally agreed to see a real professional, so hopefully that will at least not make matters worse. Right?
  23. Yeah, so I've been vaguely open about my wife, but her mental health has deteriorated over the past 4 years, and rather rapidly over the past 2 years which almost led to a divorce and other issues. Long story short, I decided that for better or worse I'm going to try to stand by her as we've been together for over a decade, and she deserves someone to stick with her through thick and thin. This weekend, we were at my best friend's house for his kid's first bday party, and all the people we know really well and his wife and mine actually get along really well.. but about 2 hours after it started, my wife just started to almost shake in the corner and crying. I checked on her, and she, through clenched teeth, said, "I have to get out of here'. So we did. On the drive home, she cried for over an hour and was shaking and saying that she was completely out of control. Once she calmed down, she was able to express that she got an anxiety which she wasn't able to control and led to her losing her nerve and control of her emotions. This is just another issue to go with the long list, so I've spent the last 48 hours trying to wrap my head around this and how to handle it while protecting our daughter and her from self harm.
  24. Has anyone ever had some anxiety that led to a panic attack? If so, what did you do to cope with it and how did you settle down after such an attack? I've been doing research and I'm finding a ton of varying information. (It's honestly not for me).
  25. Interesting. Is this a good thing? bad thing? or neutral?
