Federer pulled out of the tournament and is praised for looking after his physical health so he can be in the best condition for Wimbledon. Osaka pulls out to preserve her mental health and gets proverbially shat on from all angles. Double standards much...

  6. Yep, they're looking at having it as Austin, so it'd be this replacement race and then the Austin GP the week after.
  7. Singapore GP - originally set for 1-3rd October - cancelled. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/57360662 Turkey, China & USA being looked at as replacements. Japan, Brazil, Mexico & Australia all in doubt at the moment as well.

    Work/Jobs Thread

Had a job interview for a promotion in to a managerial role today. It's as a secondment for nearly a year so pretty much no-lose situation - if I get it, I use that time to learn the role whilst doing it, and the plan is to make it permanent if it's right for me and if they're happy. If it doesn't become permanent, I still would have learnt a lot at that level and will use that in future for any other opportunities that come up, and I also have the safety net of going back to what I do now which I still really enjoy.

Good to hear from you @Eco, and congrats on the new job!
  10. Does it document Zaha's wish to leave every summer?
  11. @Danny would you say you have enough leaders in your team? Often think this is key to survival for a promoted team - sometimes clubs buy players to fit the system but when it gets to the tough points of the season where you really have to grind a result out, they're missing that leadership or basically someone to give other players a kick up the arse when they're not giving enough; or someone to just get you over the line in a game or as part of the whole season. Fulham showed they lacked it a lot this season. Do you also think you'd be able to keep Toney now that you have got promoted?
  12. I'm blaming you if we don't re-open on 21st June as planned.

I think it's absolutely pathetic how she's been treated, to be honest. The way she's been hounded by some parts of the media (the precise reason she's not facing them anyway) is ridiculous. If someone is claiming their mental health is suffering, you don't punish them or slap them with a fine ffs. You help and support them. The fact that all 4 Grand Slam organisations have said she faces the fine for not obliging with her duties is fucking stupid, too. What about their duties to protect their players? They've actually quoted 'fairness' in their reason to fine her, too, which is laughable. I fully back her for her decision. If she couldn't commit to the interviews/press conferences due to physical injury then that would be fine. Protecting her own mental health is still a valid reason for not doing it as well.
  14. I have now! The iridescent ones are spectacular. They all are, really, but those more so.
