You could say that about almost every previous era of football to be fair. Players are fitter now than 10 years ago, everyone wants to play Pepball, full back are now wingers that kind of defend etc. It’ll be different again in 10 years.

I agree completely. That's why the 'best ever player' has to be someone recent IMO. Even players of 20 years ago would be left for dead by the pace and fitness levels of the current game

Not so much an unpopular opinion but I didn’t know where to put this. But I’m watching a United/Liverpool game from 08/09 and the standard compared to Liverpool and Man City these days is diabolical. How the fuck did Andersen play for United for so long

Oshea, Silvestre, Brown, Anderson, Raphael, fuck me that's all the evidence you need. Football changed dramatically post 2011.

  3. I agree with everything @The Palace Fan has said. AEW is such a wrestling nerd jerk off, that needs to be tuned for a more general audience if they want to bring in millions of live viewers.

Also, I'd much rather Punk Vs Jay as a heel vs face match, gaijin vs gaijin.

My perfect forbidden door card would be the following (based on who's available and who's champion)

Jay vs Punk champ vs champ. (non title) 30 min
Tanahashi vs Omega for the IWGP US title. 25 min
Taiji Ishimori vs Adam Cole for the jnr belt 15-20 min
D Bry vs Okada (special match)25 min
Tama Tonga vs a bullet club member for the never title 10 min
Taichi and ZSJ vs Dino douche and jungle nuts for the AEW tag belts. 10-15 min

Just over 2 hours of stuff there, add in Ospreay, Hiromu, Mox and whoever else you need to jam in and you've got a nice 3 hour card.

I had the first two on DVD. Watched them all the time. Fuck I wish I was 10 still

That's the curse of our generation, hence me watching a nostalgic movie on edibles. I think it was Nick Mullen who said "Nostalgia is our generations dialysis machine" because the present/future sucks so we live in the past, ironically making a time machine to our own demise.

Some are being sold without being viewed. It’s that ridiculous. Partly because of the rise in stamp duty as well. We’ve had 3 letters through our door asking if we’re interested in selling from absolute randomers.

Apparently you need a london post code if you want that sweet sweet Cayman island tax haven write off. So london properties are full of oligarchs who've never spent a second under the roof.

One Nation scares me a fair bit though. Somehow fell down a rabbit hole reading comments on Pauline Hanson’s page recently. So many racists etc.

It's actually scary. I know they're about 1% of the population, but add the sky news crazies too, and you've got a good number of fucked in the head apes ready to rumble.

  7. Tifo football went from being a quiet, low key high quality low quantity series of 5 minute docos on football and football related topics.
Then they started doing transfer speculation (aka, dogshit)

Now they have a full on live action channel, and I say this as a white Australian, it's the whitest shit I've ever seen. Just the most sickening white middle class 'humor' and references, and of course a diversity mascot to boot to make it all okay.
    It's unwatchable.

I am expecting Liberal to do well this time round, somehow. As there's so much hate for the labor state government at the moment (so it seems) and people will just think of the pandemic measures and not what the federal government actually do (or don't do!). Will be interesting to see what happens...

    It seems wrong.

Australia has genuinely started to overcome that peak point of media manipulation we've had for 20 years. A a young wave of left leaning voters has surfaced, and they get their news on social media, not Murdochs sky, Costellos 9/fairfax or the liberal run ABC.

Yes, every paper in the nation will lie, cheat and manipulate a part of the masses into voting liberal, but that number is shrinking. It just feels claustrophobic because it's the minority who hold all the news platforms. So you're saturated with "How dare labor save the entire state from huge covid lockdowns at the cost of some middle aged Karrens not being able to visit their interstate friends"

When in reality, no one cares, the majority are thankful and more and more people are waking up (even if it's just because their kids are explaining liberal corruption to them)

My great hope is we get a FAT national integrity commission, a bunch of libs get dishonored, a bunch go to jail, and labor can get a long run into the future, pressure free, off the back of being able to point at the horrendous current liberal govs mistakes and corruption.

It's also always easier for labor to be re elected than gain an election for 2 reasons.

    1. the abc. At least with a labor gov, they have some level of national news platform

    and

    2. It puts them, and their good policy in the spotlight, whereas when the libs sit, they just get the media to ignore or spin all their harmful, and at times basically treasonous policies, and shout down any ideas labor have as being commie or "yeah but they'll tax you more" When the libs actually tax higher.

    Remember kids.

The libs tripled the debt, in EXCELLENT economic conditions.
The GDP suffers every time the libs enter parliament.
A table showing rates of GDP growth under Labor and Coalition governments over the past 50 years.

0.78 Labor vs 0.68 Coalition, and we're sitting under the worst economic managers of all time.

Howard presided over the mining boom, and we could have done much better had we taxed any of the mining corps properly

In my electorate the hilarious mental gymnastics are ‘OI WUT HAVE LABOURRR DONE FOR US ?’ They have never voted Labor in about 100 years :dam:

@Devil-Dick Willie I actually do have a crisis I want some advice on from you two. On the upcoming election, I’d say the most likely party to oust the Lib seat in my electorate is the One Nation Party. I cannot abide by them because you know the Mrs is yellow and Pauline Hanson quite dislikes them yellows, said so herself. I just don’t know how to preference my voting, Labor will not win, the Greens would never win (they are Labor parasites anyway, half of them are ex-Libs), and I’m not sure about any other party that is running in the electorate.

I guess I could preference Bob Katter, which is just cowboy Lebanese North Queensland Labor.

Go katter 1, Labor 2, any independant who would back labor 3, labor 4, greens 5 and so on, libs last.

When I was in the heartland of footy country I probably watched or half-watched every other game. Fuck it is shit these days, I swear the rules are completely different. Every time I asked my uncle or stepdad they were too drunk and stoned to properly explain how the rules are different.

@Devil-Dick Willie can you explain how and why there are so many tackle set resets?

To encourage more point scoring, and lower the number of full blown penalties.

There was a period in 2012-15 where there were 15 penalties per team per game, so some of the smaller penalties were downgraded to tackle resets. The huge number of tackle resets now means that more attacks end in 'attacking kicks' (bombs, and a little kicks in behind) rather than boring kicks for distance.

The whole game is fucked, just watch rugby.

I remember my mate owned that album because his step-dad won it at the pub with a meattray or something. Sucked then, sucks now. That song is okay, I guess.

Some of the songs certainly do suck. Too poppy and overproduced. But a few of them hold strong. Pay the man is a masterpiece. Genuinely. Peak of the offsprings creativity ever.

    @Devil-Dick Willie 3 questions.

Have we seen sabre v danielson before?

Will we see it at forbidden door?

And will it be cum in your pants good?

    No

    I hope so

And yes. Sanada would also be a great opponent for him. But I think he's injured.

Other matches I want to see would be

Shingo Takagi vs anyone at all

    El Desperado vs Penta

Jay White (Or Ibushi or Ospreay) vs Kenny Omega.

This new Seth Rollins is fucking stupid. It's like if Liberace was given the role of playing The Joker.

Such a gross misuse. Post shield Rollins was at his hottest when he had no gimmick. He just wrestled god matches, said cut and dry babyface things, and the crowd loved him.

Then he bought his own hype too much, said dumb shit to ospreay, got booked down a hole in that Hell in a Cell encounter with the fiend and it's been garbage city since.

The Briscoes and FTR had a Match of the Year Contender on the ROH show last night. Absolutely brilliant.

    Colour me not surprised.

FTR, and the Briscoes are the 2 best tag teams on the planet no doubt. Tag team wrestling, which AEW was supposed to revive, has died in the ass over the last few years.

Bucks went to shit the moment they left NJPW and the shackles came off.
The other AEW tag teams are either fun or average mid card acts, or just as epileptic as the bucks.

    Over in NJPW

GOD are great, but a bit old, lacking their old explosive punch
    Roppongi 3k split up.
    Evil and Sanada split up.
Zack and Taichi are fun, but they're 2 singles wrestlers tagging together.

    And in WWE
    Shamus and Cesaro are goneski
Imperium are great, but not huge enough stars.
Viking Raiders been a joke since they left NXT.
