  1. Said it a dozen times since last year but it's beyond farcical that this was put to a public referendum. The government are voted in and paid to run the country yet the biggest economic decision for the UK in our lifetimes gets decided by the public and given how little the general public knows about the practicalities of EU membership they may as well have just saved us the trouble and flipped a coin in the Houses of Parliament. Even the well educated members of the public couldn't and can't predict the impact of leaving the EU and we're talking about a pretty small proportion of the public too sadly. Too many others had to vote based on point scoring sound bites from leading politicians on both sides of the vote because that's all the media can be bothered to offer us rather than the facts that could have given the public some idea of what they were voting for or against. I'm not saying the result would have been different either because who knows, but the whole situation is shambolic and reflective of the leadership we've suffered in this country (from both parties and the likes of Farage) since I was old enough to have any understanding of it.
  2. Can't wait for negotiations to go on for another three years. I mean seriously, the referendum was 18 months ago and this is about the first sign of something actually being decided. Can't wait even more for when everyone realises what a trough of shit we've voted ourselves into after a few more years.
  3. Ericsson over Wehrlein is madness. Wehrlein has something about him. Ericsson will cling onto the Sauber seat until the money runs out and no body else will want him. However, if it is money keeping him in the car then fair play to Sauber. As a team the best survivors in Formula One and now have the massive Alfa Romeo name to go over the door.
  4. Rooneys hat trick tonight takes him to 7 goals for the season in the Premier League, equal with Lacazette (£50m) and one behind Lukaku (£70m? already forgotten) with significantly less minutes on the pitch than at least Lukaku, in a much shitter team and mostly playing in midfield. Aside from tonight's goals, he scores one "pointless" goal against Arsenal. Otherwise winner against Stoke, only goal in the 1-1 at City and an equaliser at Brighton. Remove those goals and we're 5 points worse off and in the relegation zone again. Yet whenever we lose people jump on the rhetoric about him being past it and act as if it's some sort of comedically bad transfer that we signed him on a free? To be fair, he has been poor a lot of the time, slowing down attacks when we're chasing a game and generally not offering much against defences that aren't as shambolic as West Ham, so he is not exempt from criticism. However, he actually played as a deep midfielder this evening and put in a better performance than we've seen from Schneiderlin in that position since about April. A position where Rooney can see the game in front of him, get stuck in and use his quality on the ball might be there. No harm in him bursting forward from midfield, he might be slower than he used to be but arriving late in the box there still aren't many players in the league I'd back to score over him like he did with the second tonight. Food for thought for Allardyce and possibly the solution to the Sigurdsson Rooney conundrum.
  5. How can it be more safe when they have that much if their view impeded? What are they going to do for the Moto GP riders to protect their heads if this is required in F1? Absolute bollocks this.
  6. Up to date at last including tonight's episode. This is definitely a show Id consider a bit of fun rather than a masterpiece, it's not on a par with Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, but for what it is I'm very impressed with how much they've managed to keep it decent for so long. The Governor and Negan threads have been the best. Wasn't as keen on the weird journey to the Sanctuary for All place around season 4 and the whole hospital thing. When they first arrived in Alexandria it was a bit dull as well. Overall though worth binging.
  7. I've just had it with us after tonight. Koeman was shite and Unsworth is ill equipped for this but like I said way back when the writing was on the wall for Martinez, the players are responsible for what happens on that pitch. For me: Pickford - innocent until proven guilty. I think he's been good apart from a couple of fuck ups recently but you can't say he's been that good with so few clean sheets. Joel - inconsistent, needs to go really but not the biggest priority. Stekelenburg - pointless 'jobs for the boys' signing by the Koeman brothers who isn't inconsistent because he's just not good. Coleman - need him back, absolutely key player. Kenny - has been exposed at times but you could put Paolo Maldini in our defence and he'd get exposed 20 times a match because of the diarrhoea surrounding him. Martina - the Koeman brothers should be paying his wages. Absolutely unbelievable that this signing was sanctioned when he couldn't make Southampton's bench. Baines - persistently exposed because he tries to help our "attack" but we lose the ball before he gets to him. His lack of pace along with the rest of our defence forces us to play a deep defensive line which is a huge problem for us at the moment. Williams - I'd say a player is having a poor season when they're mostly average with a few bad games. I don't know how I'd describe his season because he's played average for a couple of 45 minute spells and utter shite for the rest. Slow, doesn't seem arsed and consistently fails at the absolute basics of football and defending. Jagielka - poor this season but our best centre back. At least he cares but he shouldn't be near our first choice at his age and with his ceiling these days. Holgate - don't know where he's gone under Unsworth. Did okay at right back earlier in the season but shite when he played in what's supposed to be his natural position in the middle, alongside Williams to be fair. Keane - becoming the biggest disappointment of the season because some of this defending I expect from Martina and Williams but Keane looked good at the start of the season but has already got as shite as those two. Needs dropping for a while if the rest of our options weren't such a disgrace. Gueye - not terrible but average and often gets caught out of position. Yellow card waiting to happen. Schneiderlin - neck and neck with Keane for the non-Williams wooden spoon. Sent off twice because the only time he gets near the opposition he's committing a foul. Baningime - looks a player and one of the rare positives this season, need to get him out of that side before he gets infected and rotted by the absolute shite surrounding him. Davies - neither here nor there. Can't expect much from him at this age in these circumstances despite what he achieved last season. McCarthy - get fit or fuck off already. Besic - should get more of a chance. Barkley - can't believe we (including me) weren't arsed about him leaving because he "wasn't that good". Crying out for some pace and actual footballing ability in that midfield. Klaassen - hasn't done enough but has become a scapegoat because people can't wait to throw out the lazy "not suited to the Premier League" line. Still think there's a player in there (Ajax captain last season for fucks sake) but he needs to get his finger out. Sigurdsson - getting away with murder. Absolute passenger every time he sets foot on the pitch but our fans don't make a big deal of it because we're embarrassed about how much he cost and we can't trot out the "not suited to the Premier League" bollocks because of his Swansea record. Has done as little as Klaassen with more chances. Rooney - has at least scored a few goals but slows down our attack too much. Have given him the benefit of the doubt because he has put the ball in the net a few times but he's begun to look negative and I don't see what he offers to this side at the moment. Bolasie - no problem with having him around but he was okay last season before his injury and nothing more. Let's not rewrite history and tell ourselves this is a star player waiting to come back into the side. Mirallas - has some quality but mostly inconsistent and a bit of a shithouse. Unfortunately should be getting more game time because everyone else is shite. Lennon - works hard, suited to the side at the moment because he'll scrap but not good enough in terms of actual quality. Vlasic - looks decent on the ball but overrated by our fans as he's shown very little in the way of end product. Not difficult to be one of our best players when most of his appearances came when Koeman was a dead man walking. Lookman - should become a quality talent but needs loaning out. Sitting on the bench is no good for him but nor is throwing him into the side and hoping he magics a goal out of nowhere. Sandro - scored tonight, hopefully that can be a springboard for him as he's been desperately disappointing. Calvert-Lewin - has been rightly praised for a series of decent performances at his age but ultimately has only one league goal this season. Niasse - hopefully he can keep up his frankly hilarious fairytale because without his goals we'd have no league wins since the first game of the season and would probably be bottom of the table.
  8. Bottas missed his chance today. I still think he's a potential world champion if he stumbles into the right set of circumstances at the right time like Button and Rosberg but I can't see him ever beating the likes of Hamilton or Verstappen over the course of a season in a straight fight. Top drives from Massa and Alonso (yet again) today. Fernando is unreal, my driver of the year after Hamilton. That McLaren looks like having a competitive chassis these days, with a Renault in the back of it, could make Alonso a dark horse for the title next year.
  9. Been hearing the same every year since I started paying attention in 2008.
  10. The days of engine manufacturers are finished for now. There's not enough benefit in spending all that money to build and develop engines without gaining the exposure of running a full works team.
  11. FIFA 2000 was my first FIFA. The bug I remember was your player wouldn't get called offside if the ball went directly to them and they shot first time without having to make a run.
  12. Everton had Mbappe one season into my career on this FIFA so depends if that goes down as an improvement .
  13. While it's not okay he probably didn't even know about it as he'll employ some number magician to save him as much money as possible by any technically legal means necessary.

Zverev looks like he's actually "the one" after the endless false dawns of Dimitrov, Raonic, Kyrgios, Nishikori, Thiem etc. About time. Wouldn't be surprised if Murray and or Djokovic turned back up and swept up a bunch of the big titles again next year though. The tour has become a joke. An ageing Federer and Nadal still easily dominating players in their prime. They take a week off and you get Sock and Krajinovic competing in a Masters final. Shambolic.
  15. Schneiderlin is a West Ham player waiting to happen.
  16. Schneiderlin a massive culprit for our joke of a season so far. Shocking in every game and two red cards. Honestly thought with him and Gueye that midfield was locked down and sorted for a few years. Apart from Williams, Schneiderlin has probably been the biggest let down of the season with a number of other "senior" players not far behind. Mirallas not surprised at all. Good on Unsworth or whoever made the call for putting their foot down.
  17. Was cleared to get the plane with the rest of them.
  18. Bags of talent and one of the stars of the U20 World Cup campaign. Many of our fans have been crying out for him to get a chance but he's seriously frustrating and when he comes on with 20 minutes to change a game he's prone to shooting from ridiculous positions and generally wasting possession. We're overly reliant on our young guns at the moment and it's not helping them. The likes of Lookman, Calvert-Lewin and Kenny being expected to save an expensive and experienced team from the disaster that this season has been is not on. I'm all for giving the youngsters a chance but they've put in their shift. At this point I'd be looking to former Ajax captain Klaassen, club-record signing Sigurdsson, double figures in La Liga striker Sandro Ramirez to stand up and be counted because the kids aren't ready to carry this side.

Disagree. Bookmakers are exploiting it but it isn't their responsibility to stop people from being stupid enough to spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on those machines. Even if I could afford it I'd be ashamed to spend all that time on one of those machines all the time or gambling online. What a sad situation you have to let yourself get into for the desire to gamble to override everything else. Not the bookmakers' fault when their job is to make money off people and always has been, hopefully the people in question get the help they need to rediscover their self control.
