Now Scotland has to score 205 runs in 120 balls and we have to make sure that we get their ten batsmen out before they score 205 runs. How many ways you can score runs in baseball ? either by completing all the bases or hitting a home run but both ways will get you '1' run. In Cricket, getting runs is similar. After hitting the ball if you get to the other side of the pitch you will get one run its like getting from 1st base to 2nd in baseball. Like homerun if you hit the ball over the boundary in cricket then you will get 'six' runs. In baseball if the balls takes a bounce and crosses the boundary then the batter gets a free pass to the next base right ? Correct for a T20 format. In a one day format there are 50 overs per inning (per team) so that means 300 balls or 10 batsmen And in test cricket, you play for 5 days at an average of 90 overs per day, so total of about 450 overs for 4 innings (two innings per team). Personally as a huge Dravid fan, I would love to have him at number three but at the same time I dont think its a shame to lose the spot to Punter. I would have taken out one of the spinners and replace him with either Ambrose, Walsh or Waqar Younis. Also Gilly out and Sanga In as keeper. Maybe it's because my best memories of him are in the ODI format but didn't expect Sehwag there to open! Maybe thought Cook or Langer would be there instead. Would probably be happier if, like you say, Dravid was there too or Sangakkara in for Gilchrist. There's maybe even a shout for Chanderpaul to be in there somewhere too. If you don't want a second spinner I'd have glenn in tho.The biggest omission is biff. The greatest test captain of all time and the 2nd best opening batsman I've ever seen after Haydos. Both physically and mentally they seem shot. England are a great ODI team despite the Scotland loss. They've got big hitters and effective bowlers. Australia seem like they just need a break from cricket with so much attention on them for what happened with Smith, Bancroft and Warner as well as how this ODI series has gone. Good atmosphere sitting with Bharat Army (equivalent of Barmy Army for England). Good game of cricket too although expected England to get several more runs. India won with ease in the end. Rohit Sharma is different level sometimes. Love watching him bad. Yadav getting 6-25 is ridiculous too. Met Yadav, Chahal and Shreyas Iyer after the game in a restaurant as well. Ended up going to casino with them. Australia is nowhere near their past teams and adding the controversies but a wounded tiger is even more dangerous. England has a great ODI side and will be huge bottlejob if this team doesnt wins a silverware. Considering England's history at international sporting events despite all the media hype around them its still 50/50. Cant really find any fault in this Indian team they are the favorites alongside England. What can hurt them ? Egos and feuds between big players and staff if something goes wrong ? South Africa will be South Africa. Top side through out the cricketing season but turns average during ICC events. Will it be this time ? We are the opposite of South Africa but its very unlikely we can repeat our perfomance from the CT still we have a great record in England and you can never rule out our unpredictablity factor. New Zealand isn't really the dark horse like last time but they are a side to cause a shock or two. Windies can have a title contender side if they can get their contract issues sorted. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are opposite of each other right now. The former being a minnow punching above their wieghts and people expecting so little from Sri Lanka when they can deliver so much more. I think it's between England and India as to who comes out on top. England's batting line-up is ridiculous and we saw recently how much spin can play a part if you have someone decent. England have about 5 or 6 big hitters and you only need a few of them to hit some form and you'll be looking at a challenging score to chase (or you need to set one to make it challenging for them) - the talent and ability of Buttler, Stokes, Bairstow, Hales, Roy, Morgan and even Root is something most teams would love. And then you have players like Ali who'll happily smack you around the ground if need be. You mention it too but I wouldn't rule out Pakistan unless there's some controversy to put you off - the Champions Trophy really put you back in the limelight and the young squad you have would be even more prepared for next summer you'd think so I wouldn't write you off just yet. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
