The sorry thing is for a lot of Arsenal fans is that they can't come to terms that he just was not any good anymore. We didn't spend that much during that period we're discussing, and we weren't even close go the top spenders. We're not talking about opinions here, we're talking about numbers. "Spending some fucking money" being at the heart of every single complaint from fans isn't a myth but now that it's been made obvious that it was down to the stadium move (which a lot of fans didn't understand for some reason), you're deciding to actually pretend that we did actually spend a lot of money... So the 11 year period between 02/03 to 12/13 has us making a profit from transfers. The season after that we started spending decent amount of money when buying Ozil which gave us a staggering £35m net spend for that season. Also when we started winning a few FA Cups. I don't know what other proof you need that we weren't big spenders for a long time. You want someone who will stand up to it and back himself rather than someone who would be crushed by it. I think the problem was the way he walked off, the boos came when he just strolled off as he was sulking to be subbed so he did bring a lot of attention to himself. The damage has been done now, he was never a really liked by many of the fans this will just make it worse for the ones that have it in for him.
