Can't recommend it enough. It's silly humour and so easy to watch.

I really like both. The first one is definitely the more epic and iconic one, but I loved the second one better because of its complexity and thematical richness. De Niro in the flashbacks was one of his best performances ever, Pacino was also great, and I loved how they juxtapose the rise of Vito in the flashbacks with the fall of Michael in the main storyline. For me the second one is superior to the first, but I do love them both...

IgnisExcubitor Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 This was my top ten. 1) Dr. Stangelove: Or How I learned to stop worrying and Love the Bomb 2) Blade Runner 2049 3) Godfather 1 4) In Bruges 5) Motorcycle Diaries 6) Goodfellas 7) La Isla Minima 8) The Great Escape 9) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 10) Inside Out Looks like only Godfather made it. Nice to see Truman Show on the list. @Pyfish How did Blade Runner 2049 fare? And did Dr Strangelove get love from anyone else? Sending you the tv list.

I considered Dr. Strangelove, The Motorcycle Diaries and Goodfellas for my top 10, but they all just missed out... Great movies though. No love for 2001: A Space Odyssey or Taxi Driver? Thought you'd be the other one to have those in your list!
IgnisExcubitor Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 @nudge Tried to restrict one movie per director. So Dr. Strangelove won over 2001 and Clockwork and Goodfellas won over Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. Also one movie from a franchise, so Godfather 2 missed out. Also wanted to fit at least one animated movie in the end. Chose Inside out over Kung Fu panda and Princess Mononoke. I did consider Big Fish (my favourite Burton flick) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, but in the end I couldn't fit them. Others to just miss out from my list were Life of Pi, 12 Angry men and Fargo.
nudge Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 By the way, @IgnisExcubitor - have you watched A Hidden Life, Terrence Malick's latest film yet? I absolutely loved it... Easily the best movie I've seen in recent years, and now also one of my favourite movies of all time. Thought you'd appreciate it. Tried to get @Tommy to watch it, but haven't heard anything back yet
