That's a penalty for the sake of consistency but anyone who thinks that's fair and sporting needs to give their heads a wobble. We convince ourselves it's fine when it happens in our favour because everyone else's players do it.

As far as I'm concerned, an attacker deliberately initiating contact with a defender then going down is as bad as a dive. And that's what Tielemans did there (he just did, it's not debatable). It'll never happen now but if we wanted to maintain the integrity of the sport that wouldn't be a penalty.

The way the rules are now there are far too many scenarios where a player is incentivised to try to win a penalty rather than try to score. If you want to get your body between the defender and the ball and force them to foul you or let you go that's a different matter but if the attacker clearly initiates the contact it shouldn't be a foul. It's shit that penalties like that are considered stonewall these days.

I'll debate it. He's not 'deliberately' done it. He's running normally. It's not like he's stuck his leg out at a weird angle to initiate contact.

Without 8 first team players including a top goal scorer, not on the bench either. A lot of teenagers, squad players from the B Team. If we can grab a goal it could get interesting and that’s be a good experience for them. If xD

Tielemans hasn’t done it on purpose, but has physically kicked Fosu. You can’t be kicked in the ankle and be the person who caused the foul. Physically impossible Stan.

Fair enough. I won't debate that bit but saying he's kicked Fosu deliberately is not right.

We’re bringing on 18 year olds, they’re bringing on Premier League winners. I’d be surprised if we keep it at 3 goals, let alone come back into it

Tell that kid to get a proper hair cut ffs

This is splitting hairs though for me. What the others have said sums it up. Tielemans initiates the contact and I don't think any of us can say hand on heart that the majority of our own players wouldn't hesitate to do it deliberately if they could, knowing they'd win a penalty. He certainly didn't go out of his way to stay on his feet.

I agree, there's a fine line with what you say here though and saying he looked for contact  deliberately in the incident earlier. In my opinion.

Frustrating to watch, another ref could have sent Soyuncu off imo and not given that pen, completely different game. But the one good thing to come out of this is fixture congestion, one less game to play in what is a more hectic Championship season than any other

The only thing that I keep wondering is just what Williams has shown over  Philllips? Neither are particularly good, but at least Nat is good at headers.

Interesting seeing Jones in the front three, may be the injection of creativity needed.

Williams probably better in possession. Williams is slow but Phillips is slower
