I believe he means ordering a beer without further instructions.

Ah ok. Normal here. Then they usually ask "Alt oder Pils?" and I just give them a bewildered look and order an Alt. We're in Düsseldorf god damnit!

It's totally normal in pretty much all places I've been... Depending on the restaurant/bar/pub, they either ask you which sort you want, or just bring you whatever is on tap.

You’d get sassed if you didn’t specify size and what beer in Australia.

Don't you lot also have some crazy names for the different sizes of glass, too?

Yes and the names are regional. There are more than this but only old people order smaller than a pot.

Robert Allen в Twitter: „@OzKitsch Now available in sizes middy / pot, schooner, pint and jug. NB. Size names may vary between states. https://t.co/bkdDolD3Ld“ / Twitter

If you don't specify the size you want, you're either asked, which one you would want or silently served 0.4 liter ( half a liter in Bavaria respectively).

For me, there are only two sizes - small (0,3 l) and large (0,5 l). Simple and effective xD

There shouldn't even be a small. It's large or "I believe you're looking for Starbucks".

Small makes a lot of sense in the tropics, as a large one gets too warm too soon, unless you're necking it...

Only 18 year olds that started going to the pub get wound up by what size beer other people order.

Imagine waiting until you're 18 to go to Pubs.

Uerige has already been posted in this thread.  Sorry, you'll get no credit for this.

There's one fake German beer in there, so I'll use it to circumvent the rules and post the other ones here in this thread, too

"German single malt"? Didn't expect German breweries to conquere the whisky market.
