Think we can probably assume some of the line up tonight, defence and midfield will be interesting though. Kelleher in goal. I can see Gomez starting RB to give Phillips a game at CB alongside Konate then Tsimikas LB. Chamberlain and Jones definitely start in midfield I think. Not sure whether Milner starts again after the weekend but he'd have been a cert had he not played on Saturday. Possibly see an U23 there instead? Gordon, Origi and Minamino as the front three I'd have thought.

Minamino's looking lively in this opening 15, other than grabbing himself a goal.

really want Minamino to do well with us. I remember watching him play against us and thinking "holy shit this guy seems like he'd fit in perfectly with us" - but he's had some growing pains moving to England.

Begovic, Kenny and Rondon currently looking very poor fodder as squad players and Godfrey nowhere near himself at the moment post-Covid. Gomes and Iwobi who have done well when they've played this season aren't asserting themselves fully on this game yet. It's a much changed team but we need to win this game. Soft goals giving QPR loads of confidence and momentum and we've got an uphill struggle on our hands.

Mixed bag first half. Some decent performances but Keita, Origi in particular have been awful. Konate also has looked dodgy but Gomez has covered his arse. Minamino had a good 15 minutes but was totally unanimous for the last 30.

Hard to judge though when it's such a mixed team of fringe and youth players.

Yeah like you say, hard to judge with a mixed but you want to be seeing more from Keita and Chamberlain in particular. Think Chamberlain has been poor.

3000 Evertonians have filled out the away end at QPR.

Leeds have apparently taken 5,500 to Fulham, taking half the total attendance.

Great efforts from those fans on a weekday for this comp.

Minamino scored our 3rd - Tsimikas hasn't been on the pitch for about 20 minutes.

Apologies, got mixed up. Not watching.

Brentford make it 7. Man City 6-1.

Stoke 3-1 up at Watford probably the biggest surprise of the night.

And we're out. Best chance of a trophy gone for another season. A combination of terrible squad depth because of our idiotic transfer policy over the past 5 years and a dose of typical Everton bad luck missing both of our top goalscorers and Pickford who would have won us that shootout with one hand tied behind his back. Davies will get slated for missing the penalty because he's one of Everton Twitter's favourite punching bags and yeah, he had an average game, but like I said, Begovic was given a chance to save four of the seven penalties QPR scored before that.

You could see from that performance where our weak links are. Kenny, Begovic, Rondon, Davies and Gomes all passengers. There's an element of 'what do you expect' from some of them but Gomes should have been running this game after some of his recent performances off the bench.

So frustrating, another stupid and avoidable exit from the League Cup. Yes we'd probably have got killed off by City, United or Chelsea as soon as we faced one of them but at least keep yourself in the hat.
