nudge Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Just now, Tommy said: How many injured players do you have now in total? Just bad luck? Too much intensity in training? Something else? Defenders: Moisander, Toprak (both should be fit in about a week), Veljkovic and Langkamp (both in reha-training), Augustinsson (out for 2-3 months) Midfielders: Möhwald (out for 6 months). Bargfrede (was out for months) and Maxi Eggestein are just back to the squad after injuries. Attackers: Füllkrug (out for months), Osako (out for 4-6 weeks), Bartels (out indefinitely; potentially career ending). Rashica just returned back as well. So 9 currently injured with 3 players coming back after injuries. + Sahin suspended. All first team players as well. Mostly bad luck as it's all different type of injuries; some long-term as well. We actually even hired an external team of specialists to evaluate it to see if there's something contributing to it potentially but no pattern was found. Hope Maxi Eggestein and Rashica are fit enough for the starting XI tomorrow. If no one else picks up an injury during the warm up we'll probably start like this: --------------------Pavlenka Lang---------TGS------Groß--------Friedl ----------------M. Eggestein ------J. Eggestein---------Klaassen Rashica--------Sargent----------Bittencourt The bring on Pizarro and Bargfrede at some point. 1 Quote
Rucksackfranzose Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) I know it's a blast from the past, still caused me a bit of nostalgia: https://thesefootballtimes.co/2019/10/03/overweight-lazy-and-brilliant-the-career-of-werder-bremen-legend-ailton/ Edited October 3, 2019 by Rucksackfranzose 2 Quote
nudge Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Toprak injured again Pizarro doubtful too. It's a good thing we gave Groß a new contract; we might need to give him a professional one in the near future as he seems to be the only want to stay fit Quote
Bluewolf Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 This was an interesting read.... didn't realize that Pizzaro was 41.. god that makes me feel old.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7568377/Still-going-41-Werder-Bremens-Claudio-Pizarro-records-sight-retirement.html Second most goals scored by a foreign scorer in German football history Sixth all-time top scorer in Bundesliga (197 goals) Oldest player to score in Bundesliga history Oldest player to score a hat-trick in Bundesliga history Top scorer in Werder Bremen history (152 goals) More than 200 goals and 18 trophies... not a bad haul for an old boy.. 1 2 Quote
nudge Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 Christian Groß in NDR Sportclub on Sunday. Should be an interesting talk. https://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/sendungen/sportclub/Sportclub,sendung954754.html Every week watching him I wonder how he never made it into 1. Bundesliga before. Good positioning, solid technique, good passing, intelligent, solid both in defense and going forward occasionally. Happy he got his chance so late in his career; hope he stays in the first team after the winter break as well. 3 Quote
Faithcore Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Ist das etwa keine Meldung wert, dass der stolze Theodor seinen Vertrag verlängert hat? Ich bin etwas enttäuscht von unserer Werderfraktion. 1 Quote

An RB was already one of our priorities in the summer before the injury crisis hit and this new contract extension is only for one year anyway - so I definitely see us getting another RB to replace Theo in the near future. But I'd say it definitely makes sense to keep him - he's still a decent reliable fullback and who knows if we manage to sign someone proper given the state of our budget. Quote
