It's probably going to be a slow start again, very little pre season WHU could nick this one ..we need to actually take some risks and play Haaland in this time or drop a few ball's over the top for him to chase instead of choosing a 5yard back pass instead 🙈 in the shield De Bruyne and Mahrez could of put him through on goal a few times but didn't read his run, it's going to take time to gel

The team will prob be the players closest to match fitness, id also start Foden and Alvarez to give us some pace out wide, Mahrez and Greelish can come on when the fullbacks are knackered  ..only player out is Laporte, Stone just back so doubt he will play, Ake gets another chance to impress ..bring on Phillips, Gundogan, Greelish & Mahrez in the middle of the 2nd half

Ederson

Walker - Dias - Ake - Cancelo

De Bruyne - Rodrigo - Bernardo

Alvarez - Haaland - Foden

BENCH:- Ortega, Stones, Esbrand, Phillips, Gundogan, Greelish, Mahrez, Palmer, Delap

Hopefully West Ham can take points off City here. They’re more than capable of it.

Wouldn't surprise me if we lose this tbh after seeing us last weekend, depends how ready West Ham are and if we have learned how to pass to Haaland yet 😂🙈

How long have City needed a clinical finisher like this for though?

They Will break the 100 points mark this season. Everyone else is fucked. Quote meh.

He's going to score 40+ if we can get the ball to him more and with space to run, devastatingly quick, CB's got no chance if he's got space

FT 2-0 Haaland won MoM. we was a bit sloppy at times, look about 70% match fit. when they learn to use Haaland right he's going to destroy this league as proved today, unlucky to not have a hattrick, what a player we have :hh:

Is Bernardo off then? Why else would be come on so late?

I don't see how Barca can afford him or register him if they get him :what: got to be 70+million in this market, De Jong plus cash is could be the only way, it's a bit late in the window for us to lose a player like Silva too

  • The title was changed to West Ham 0-2 Man City - Sunday 7th August, 2022

That second goal is why he's so important IMO. City just didn't have that in their locker the last 2 seasons. Being able to play a long ball through the middle and a beast athletic striker standing on the shoulder ready to blaze through takes me back to Liverpool Torres times.

Correct, we would of drew that game last season trying to tippy tappy the ball into the net instead of playing the long pass for a stud like Haaland to get on the end of with a one touch finish 😍 ..if that was Jesus or Sterling they would of taken extra touches and been crowded out by the defence with the ball coming back to midfield again if they didn't lose it 🙈 so frustrating to watch last season at times  ..now we need to adjust and learn where Haaland will make his runs and get the ball too him as much as possible

That second was a Shearer/Henry esque finish. It’s crazy considering how young he is. City have to change how they play, but if they manage it they will easy get that treble of PL titles and he will top those scoring charts with ease.

City under Pep to this point has never been built around one player. Their success came from the involvement of everyone.

I’m very curious to see how they do this season given it’s a complete change of style. Haaland is a brilliant striker but limited in buildup, which has been the basis of City’s attack for years. I think if the team tries too hard to set up Haaland it’s going to get quite daunting.

Can’t believe there are people about who think Haaland wouldn’t settle in this league. Putting a top 3 in the world striker in a top 3 in the world team was always going to work out. He’ll score 28-32 goals this season.
