Klaassen couldn't look any more like Steven Naismith from a distance xD. We look a bit rusty in the final third here, a shame that the empty sections of stand make it look like a pre-season friendly from the side that the TV camera is on. Still confident that the flood gates will open when we get one.

We look like we don't know how to attack with this lineup which is forgivable to an extent given the changes to the side but needs sorting if we're to win this by the 3+ goals that we expect.

Not criticising Calvert-Lewin but Lookman should have started out wide.

Well, no point denying the facts, that was poor and fell short of what we should be capable of against the third best side from Slovakia at home. We now go to Eastern Europe with a dangerous 1-0 lead. Okay, many of those players have barely played 45 minutes together before tonight and our opponents were very combative and are a few weeks further on in their pre-season process, but these things only make that result more understandable, not acceptable.

No point throwing toys out of the pram though, plenty of opportunity for us to learn from tonight, the main thing that we need an out and out striker to act as the focal point of our attack because Rooney isn't a lone striker. Should be giving Calvert-Lewin a chance to make his case in that position for me because he's definitely not a winger and Koeman clearly wants to give him game time.

Stekelenburg deserves credit for a few key saves and collections. Martina looked pretty gash, he's only been around 10 minutes to be fair to him but I think he'll have his work cut out winning the fans over given that many people were looking forward to Kenny and or Holgate getting game time in Coleman's absence. Baines did okay, Keane was decent, Williams made a couple of small errors and I'm not convinced about him. Gueye was pretty good for the most part, Schneiderlin, Klaassen, Rooney all meh. Calvert-Lewin did okay out of position, Mirallas was a threat but in and out of the game, Lookman and Davies should have been on about 15 minutes earlier. Sandro looked dangerous when he came on and I hope he starts the second leg.

Miles away from being fit enough to start a season, as expected and was shown there. Midfield two were good but other than that, below average.

Can have any striker playing there and he'd have done nothing, no creativity in the side.

Here's the question Everton fans.

Based on that showing, your first competitive performance, is it essential the club get's Gylfi Sigurdsson?

100%.

If not him, then someone alike.

There's a real danger we could go out tomorrow if we don't take it seriously.

An early goal from them and we'll be panicking. They're much fitter than us at the moment, 2 games into their season and coming off a 4-0 home win.

Kenny, Pickford and Sandro in for Martina, Stek and DCL would be nice.

Nervous.

Whether or not I'd heard of Ruzomberok before the draw, going to any Eastern European side for an away second leg and with a slender lead is a dangerous recipe.

However, play anything near our best and we should be able to go and win 3-0 tomorrow night even in their back yard.

There will be riots though if we somehow don't make it through.

lose and not qualify and it's worse than Rangers going out a few weeks ago...

The other ties completed this round have seen Austria Wien beat Limassol of Cyprus, while Suduva (Lithuania) beat Sion (Switzerland) somewhat surprisingly.

Aside from Everton there are a number of clubs from the bigger leagues who will have to fight to get through tomorrow. Some of the fixtures:

Apollon Limassol v Aberdeen (agg 1-2)

Videoton FC v Bordeaux (agg 1-2)

Maritimo v Botev Plovdiv (agg 0-0)

Lech Poznan v FC Utrecht (agg 0-0)

Altach v Gent (agg 1-1)

AC Milan v U Craiova (agg 1-0)

Athletic Bilbao v Dinamo Bucharest (agg 1-1)

Oostende v Marseille (agg 2-4)

Osijek v PSV Eindhoven (agg 1-0)

Domzale v Freiburg (agg 0-1)

Braga v AIK (agg 1-1)

Obviously PSV stand out with the team with the most work to do of those but Everton, Bordeaux, Freiburg and FC Utrecht are all travelling with a one goal lead or no lead at all, while Bilbao should be fine to finish the job on home turf.

Interesting lineup for us. Pickford makes his debut, Jagielka starts in a back three with Keane and Williams, Davies appears to be playing right wing back with Baines left. Gueye and Schneiderlin stay in midfield with Klaassen playing off Rooney and Sandro.
