Michael
This should be a real cracker of a game. Two of the bigger sides playing against each other in the 1st round. Spain with their attacking flair and Italy with their strong defence and rapid counter attacking ability. May the best team win.
Azeem
1-1 draw or 1-0 win for Spain after they maintain 70% of possession
Machado
@Carnivore Chris How do you rate this Spanish squad?
Michael
This should be a more entertaining match. This Spanish have great technique and they past the ball about superbly. Italy are also one of those very efficient sides with a solid defence.
Michael
Pedri with a lovely header at goal is brilliantly saved by Donnarumma!
Dave
Williams and Lamal on both wings is a fun watch.
Michael
Williams produces a powerful header from Morata's cross right in front of goal, but his header flew narrowly wide. Williams should have done better with that, as it was a big chance for Spain to take the lead.
Dave
Should apologise for putting the jinx on Williams there.

Interesting to think that Pepe, who's still playing for Portugal, was a 25 year old defensive stalwart for the Portuguese national team, when Yamal was born.

They turned up in their first match against Croatia as well. They are a delight to watch, there's a lovely flow to their game and many of their players have excellent technique. Dave
Spain to get to the quarters and batter someone with 30 chances but not score and go out in extra time.
Dave
Ayoze Perez on the field. Spain's equivalent of Spurs in the Super League.

Administrator Stan Posted June 20 Author Administrator Share Posted June 20 Convincing from Spain. That was quite convincing over a decent Italy side and an enjoyable watch. Glad to see Perez enjoying his football, could have had 2 goals right at the end. Pedri was superb for most of the game. Yamal and Williams were too good for the Italian full backs. Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted June 20 Subscriber Share Posted June 20 Two teams clearly not in the same league, surprisingly. I think a lot of people have underrated Spain coming into this tournament on the evidence of their first two performances. Miles clear of both France and England who are favourites with the bookies. 6666
The scoreline doesn't reflect the gulf in the performances from the 2 sides. Spain were so much better than Italy. Main criticism will be that they didn't score more. Yamal & Williams were a joy to watch.
