  1. Well, the club's officials will have a lot to answer at the next annual member meeting, I guess. Sacking Fischer was the wrong reaction to the issues they faced at the begin of the season, in my honest opinion, that aside it never looks good for a club, if they sack a manager not even half a year after appointing them. As for the progress after last season: Qualifying for the CL was an outlier that couldn't be expected to be repeated. That might even have been a poisoned gift in hindsight, since Union left their way from a club trying to get the best out of players, that either didn't live up to the expectations you could have had for them before, or were just average talented Buli players anyway, by forming them to an unity, that was better a sum than the single parts suggested, to a team signing big names. Probably too many steps at once for them. That said the players have to take a fair share of the blame as many of them, especially those new recruited with a reputation, underperformed much too often.

  2. Yeah I agree with @6666 on this one. War crimes are war crimes, they should be challenged and some form of justice should be given to the victims of said war crimes. It doesn't matter who commits those war crimes. The only good thing, and I mean literally the only good thing that came from the US coalition invasion of Iraq was Saddam Hussein facing some accountability for a fraction of his war crimes. And even then, it wasn't really enough - nor did any of the nations that were 10000% complicit in those war crimes really have to pay for what they'd done (in fact, ultimately in the end all they really did was destabilise Iraq enough to let ISIS be born...). So even in instances where there's some semblance of "justice" with regards to horrific crimes against humanity, it's often fractional... and never really comes close to bringing closure for the victims of these crimes. And this minimal sense of justice being dolled out... it only ever really happens too when it's a country and/or person that has ultimately no sway on geopolitics. Saddam Hussein faced justice (for just a fraction of his crimes) because he'd lost control of Iraq and was found hiding in a hole in the ground. Or that guy from Sudan who's currently on trial at the ICC for his crimes in Sudan... he's only on trial because he turned himself in. So the circumstances where Netanyahu and IDF generals actually face some consequences for their crimes... it's just not happening. Generations of Palestinians had their futures stripped away and have been consequently subject to some insane extremism that leads this conflict to be in the perpetual state of violence it's been in. The best time to hold a nation and its leaders accountable for its crimes against humanity is the second it starts happening - but if that's not possible, those crimes should be prosecuted ASAP while the living memory of those crimes is fresh in the memory. Does the fact the US, Russia, and friends, have routinely gotten away with war crimes justify Israeli war crimes? No. Does Hamas not following the rules of war justify Israel not following the rules of war? No (in fact, Israel is a sovereign state - Hamas is a collection of terrorists with corrupt billionaire leaders; it's 100% reasonable to hold Israel to a higher standard than we hold terrorists to. Does the world staying silent on the Uyghurs in China justify Israelis and Palestinians trying to bring genocidal rhetoric to civil discourse on the world stage? No, it doesn't. That others have gotten away with serious crimes against humanity is no fucking reason at all to turn a blind eye to human rights abuses. Israel shouldn't be getting a pass just because other countries with nukes got a pass. War crimes are war crimes, all human rights violations should be punished. And honestly Netanyahu should be thankful that if he does face justice, it'd be at the ICC, rather than at the hands of the generations of Palestinians who's families he's destroyed and who's futures he played a part in stealing. But the chances of him ever facing justice are so minimal, sadly. Because countries that have nuclear weapons (or are good friends with countries that have nuclear weapons) routinely get away with their crimes against humanity. But if the crux of the argument for Israeli war crimes being permissible is: we should only go after Israeli war crimes if we're going to take all war crimes seriously... it's just a shit argument. Yes, we should take all war crimes seriously. "You don't care about Hamas's own crimes against humanity if you want Israel to face consequences for theirs." No, I very much do care about Hamas's crimes against humanity and think they should face consequences just like Netanyahu and IDF leaders should. We should take every crime against humanity seriously. We shouldn't just be picking or choosing what crimes are permissible and what crimes aren't because of biases we might have about a particular conflict. They're crimes against humanity - we're all humans. We don't live in a perfect world, but just accepting the status quo isn't going to make the world any better. The only way for the world to do better is if governments of the world start demanding a better world - and part of that is actually holding countries, even the richest and most powerful countries, accountable for their crimes against all of us. Standing by and justifying the unjustifiable is how people lose their humanity and sends people on a slippery slope towards being violent extremists.

  3. Is it? If I'd been out all night and switched the tele on right now and seen the score I genuinely don't think I'd bat an eyelid. No word of a lie, I'd be a lot more shocked to see Man Utd go to Selhurst Park and be 3-0 or 4-0 up than this. It's a miracle Man Utd are in the top half to be honest. And the FA Cup final! They look like one of the worst teams in the league whenever I see them and they just seem to be constantly getting battered and embarrassed.

  4. Well if the league table after 34 matches is the same as it's now you'll also get 3 points each for predicting Bayern's and Leipzig spot bang on, if that's a consolation. At least the former isn't possible for the majority predicting Bayern would win the title.

  5. Sorry, yet have to piss on your parade. Tommy predicted Leverkusen to become champions, which is worth 3 points, others predicted Leverkusen to finish in top 4, which is worth 1 point, though. That's a 2 point advantage for him. Still only one player got points for their cup winner prediction, though. @6666 with Leverkusen reaching the final that'*s 3 points mininum and even 5 , if Leverkusen will win it versus Lautern. Since everybody else got 0 points with their prediction that's an advantage of 3 and potentially 5 points. Oops

  10. Week 38 Results Leeds 1-2 Southampton Plymouth 1-0 Hull Celtic 3-0 Hearts Girona 4-2 Barcelona Melbourne Victory 1-1 Melbourne City DC United 2-2 Philadelphia Hannover 3-2 Paderborn Empoli 0-0 Frosinone Man City Women 1-2 Arsenal Women AZ Alkmaar 2-1 Twente Round-up A time of season where titles are won and lost, races for Europe are coming to a head and relegations are suffered. Still time for a derby here and there, and a feisty one in Melbourne to predict for as part of this week. Championship came to a conclusion too with the first two games, and in Women's football Man City lost the chance to get one step closer to the title. As for the rankings, they've been swapping all season and despite not being next to each other in the table, @Bluebird Hewitt and @Viva la FCB swapped again. Mainly thanks for the former's 3 Perfect Scores to get 19 points and go up into 3rd to form a late challenge to @CaaC (John) in 2nd place. @Rucksackfranzose expertly predicted a 3-2 score-line in favour of Hannover to get a Prediction of the Week on the way to getting the 2nd-highest points tally of the week.

  11. Subaverage matchday for us! Table after 32 matchdays 1) @6666 220 points 1) @Stan 220 points 1) @Viva la FCB 220 points 4) @Michael 219 points 5) @Tommy 218 points 6) @Bluewolf 216 points 7) @Coma 187 points 8- Rucksackfranzose 178 points 9) @CaaC (John) 168 points 10) @nawoo 149 points

  12. Danke euch!
