Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted June 24, 2020 Subscriber Posted June 24, 2020 Juventus have agreed an 80m euro (£72.5m) fee with Barcelona to sign 22-year-old Brazilian Arthur - but must still convince the midfielder to join them. (Sky Sports)
Dr. Gonzo Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 I'm surprised to see Juve drop this kind of money in a post-COVID world. I thought their finances were a bit tight?

nudge Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Thought this was an interesting read regarding the financial aspect of the transfer (read the whole thread).

Pretty sure there was the same thing a few years ago when Barcelona and Valencia swapped goalkeepers. The accountants are running football these days...
Cicero Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Pjanic + 10 million for Arthur the confirmed deal. Barca's board the past 5 years.
Mpache Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Apparently Riqui Puig is a suitable replacement so I hear, but that doesn't change that this is shocking business. Especially if Pjanic will get game time over him.
Chaaay AFC Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 Such a weird deal for Barca, swapping a 23 year old for a 30 year old makes no sense, especially for just £10m on top. Actually think they are totally fucked once Messi finally leaves/starts declining if that's even possible.

Actually think they are totally fucked once Messi finally leaves/starts declining if that's even possible. Technically they’ll make £60m on this deal, only by the end of the contract will it be £10m. Which is important accounting because apparently their board members/directors/someone needed the club to make £60m by the end of the month or their positions at the club would then not be secure as they would be held personally accountable...
Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted June 29, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted June 29, 2020 Barcelona and Brazil midfielder Arthur, 23, has signed a five-year contract to join Juventus for a £72.5m fee, with Bosnia and Herzegovina midfielder Miralem Pjanic, 30, set to move in the opposite direction for £60m. (Sky Sports)
ScoRoss Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 I think both sides are currently regretting this swap right now.
