Responding to your question: Yes. The bolded part is incorrect, though. Qualified to the DFB-Pokal are the Buli clubs, 2.Liga clubs, the top 4 of 3.Liga, and the winners of the 21 cups of the regional associations of the year before, regardless of their league position. The remaining 3 spots are allocated to the 3 regional associations with the most members, at the moment these are in alphabetical order: Bayern, Niedersachsen, and Westfalen. Bayern give their additional place the best 4th tier team, Niedersachsen play a second regional cup, in which only 5th tier or below teams take part and give their second spot to the winner of this cup. and Westfalen play a decessive match between their best 4-tier team, that's not aleady qualified and the best 5-tier team from their association, that's not already qualified. You see, at least 22 spots in DFB-Pokal first round have fuck all to do with the respective team's league position.

That all seems really complex.  Would you say the average German football fan is happy with the format or have there been any discussions/attempts to change it?  Just curious.

I'd say most fans are happy with the format as it is; without having conducted a survey, though.:)

Another good draw for us...

Also hope RWE makes it to the semis :D

I'm torn would love to see RWE in the semis on the one hand, on the other that would mean we would lose our record of being the only 4-tier team ever to reach it.;)

It's brilliant one non 1.Buli team will progress to the semis, though.

Imagine if we lose against Regensburg, and they get drawn against the winner of RWE/Kiel :D

The cup match between Gladbach and Dortmund was dull for a neutral in the first half. One chance for Thuram in the first minute, a chance for Haaland between the 20th and the 30th min, half a chance for Reus, and a goal (rightfully called offside) from Thuram in the last minute- that's all. Hopefully the match becomes better in the second half.

Another legit Haaland goal robbed by the anti-Haaland-gang(DFL).... :coffee:

Nope, a rightfully disallowed, because of Haaland's foul versus Bensebaini.

Nonetheless BVB are leading 1-0 by now. At first sight I thought Sancho would've been offside.

Bensebaini tripped over his own feet. Laughable!

Surely you're just trolling? Haaland clipped him, which made him trip in the first place.

The semifinals have been drawn:

Winner Regensburg/Bremen - Leipzig

Dortmund - Kiel

Still thinking home right for lower league clubs should include 2.Liga clubs when they face Buli opposition. Kiel -Dortmund would've made a more interesting match than the other way round with attendance allowed.

Werder about to start and hoping that young Rashica can really show what he can do against lower opposition - could be a chance for the green guys to get their confidence sorted and not come with us to BL2 - watching with hope for nudge and friends!
