It's probably the same reason I know a Spanish referees name. Every time I've seen him officiate he looks pretty shit at it, and he's got that smug cocky attitude at being shit as a referee that Dean has.

Sorry, I'm just not having that he's a competent official. Maybe he's the best Spain have to offer, and if so... that's shit for them and I symapthise with Spanish football fans. But by no metric would I call him a good referee, let alone one of the best in Europe.

To each their own then mate. There is a reason he continues to officiate the highest level of football whereas Mike Dean, as you say is his equal, doesn't get a bloody sniff.

Comparing him to Mike Dean is a bit unfair on Lahoz.

He hadn't even done anything bad in this game and already was getting pelters.

I can't even remember what games he's done in the past. Fuck knows how officials are remembered unless they've made an absolute blunder each time. What's Lahoz done in the past that gives him a bad reputation amongst fans?

Turns out the Swiss dentist I like is actually German and a lawyer 😂

For what it’s worth, this ref is usually okay. Bit too card happy at times (ironic after letting Sanchez away with that studs on the knee of Thiago) but he also pulls the likes of City on their cunty tactical fouls, which is good.

Isn't that just because he's been deemed the best Spanish ref? Anthony Taylor's got 5 CL matches officiated this season, like Lahoz, and I don't think he's that much better than Mike Dean tbh.

I remember watching a La Liga match and it was mental how many errors he made. Ignoring blatant fouls, falling for blatant dives. And honestly every match where I've seen his face, I feel like he's just a man full of errors that has all the confidence in the world... which reminds me of a certain Tranmere supporting English ref in all honesty.

Who's that ex Italian ref with bald head?

There should be 150 cloned of him.

See the source image

Pierluigi Colina, legend.

I think one of his last matches though he made a bad error... but it fucked over Everton so that just solidifies his legend tbh

Probably because he's among the highest rated in Europe. He also officiates every major international tournament whereas the notion of Mike Dean ever officiating one has the hair on everyone's neck stand up.

There's no perfect ref but from what I have seen from Lahoz he tends to get it right. Could of sworn he officiated your CL game against City in 2018 and did a great job. Was also spectacular last year's Champions League final.

Perhaps I am just biased against referees that aren't either German or bald Italians that look like they'll skin you alive if you fuck with them xD

Which foul? If the Jones one then yeah, should be seeing it.

But most of the other calls he's got right? Sanchez should have been booked for Thiago but what else has he done that's outrageously bad?

That post was following the foul on Thiago.

Feel like there's gonna be a penalty given at some point. Inter players look leggy and can't keep up with Salah.

We can also throw on Diaz on against tired legs in this half, pretty nice depth we have up front all of a sudden now.
