Michael
RB Leipzig facing Rangers at home here and I feel that the Germans are looking strong, they should score a few past Rangers tonight I feel.

Michael
RB Leipzig dominated possession in that first half, but without creating too many dangerous chances. They need to up the tempo I feel in the 2nd half if they want to get the valuable home win. I know conceding a goal at home is what they desperately want to avoid, but I think they need to be a bit more adventurous. Adams has been very average, maybe he should be withdrawn in place of a more creative player for Leipzig.
Michael
Nkunku has a powerful shot at goal, but it's straight at McGregor who blocks the shot well.
Michael
Nkunku gets into the penalty area, dribbles round the diving keeper McGregor, but then blasts his shot over the bar. That should have been the opening goal for Leipzig, bit miss by Nkunku there.
Michael
Angelino punts a deep cross into the penalty area and Nkunku leaps and connects with a powerful header, but his effort goes over the bar from close range.
Inverted
What a goal. Got to say though that I don't think Leipzig have really been much better than Rangers.
Michael
Angelino gives Leipzig the lead with a lovely left footed volleyed effort from outside the area, that flew past Rangers keeper McGregor. That was a lovely strike by Angelino to give Leipzig a vital lead.
Michael
Well Leipzig win and take a 1-0 advantage to the 2nd leg. They will be happy they didn't concede an away goal and that they got the win, although an extra goal this evening would have been ideal for them. RB Leipzig 1-0 Rangers

Lucas
I dont think Rangers will mind that. 1 goal down, 2nd leg at Ibrox though and you just know the atmosphere is going to be unreal. It's what's got them to this point so far and you wouldn't back against them again.

Rangers are very strong at home and their tenacity is what they are known for, but RB Leipzig are also a side that are very strong away from home. In this season's competition, RB Leipzig drew their 1st legs at home to Real Sociedad and Atalanta. However, they went on to comfortably win 3-1 and 2-0 respectively to these two teams away from home. Leipzig love to sit back and hit sides on the counter attack, they are excellent at this. So I think this win at home will suit them no end going into the 2nd leg against Rangers, despite the raucous crowd at Ibrox that awaits them. Well they pretty much dominated the match. Granted, Leipzig didn't really force McGregor into a real save in the 1st half, but that was more down to the fact that Rangers defended excellently in numbers. Nkunku, Laimer and Angelino all got into the Rangers penalty area and had goal bound shots blocked by defenders. Angelino's effort in particular seemed like it would have gone in, had it not been blocked by Tavernier. However, in the 2nd half, Leipzig created many more dangerous attempts at goal. Nkunku had a powerful effort from just outside the area, test McGregors's gloves and reflexes. Nkunku then had an effort where he ran past the diving McGregor, only to see his shot fly over the bar, when he really should have scored. Nkunku then had a powerful towering header, fly narrowly over the bar. Then just prior to Leipzig's goal, Adams was put through in the penalty area by Nkunku. The American forced McGregor into a good save, as his powerful shot forced the Scottish keeper to tip the ball over the bar. Then of course, after the resulting corner was headed clear by the Rangers defender, it fell to Angelino, who came up with that beautifully struck, unstoppable volleyed goal. He hit the ball perfectly. Rangers only real threatening chance throughout the match, was Ryan Kent's effort. Where Kent showed a great turn of pace to beat Klostermann and pull a shot off that went wide of the far post. For the 2nd leg, Rangers won't defend so much in numbers. They will be looking for that crucial equalising goal. That will leave many more spaces in their defence in comparison to today's game and Leipzig will look to exploit these gaps. RB Leipzig will also welcome back key players Kampl, Orban and Simakan, all 3 of whom were suspended for the 1st leg match against Rangers. Rab
A good result considering how thin our squad is at the moment. No Morelos or Roofe to lead the line so we were never going to be able to hold the ball up. Bassey filling in at CB even though he's much better at left-back right now than Barisic. Ramsey should be back for the home game as well. 2nd game will be much better to watch for everyone.

But is there a chance of Roofe being fit for the return match at Ibrox do you know?

Should be intense atmosphere leipzig v gladbach could be a throwaway match. Gladbach down in the standings and I would think winning a trophy would be a priority for Leipzig. Leipzig could rest players and May have more options/less pressure with player selection. guess all said should make for a interesting second leg. As the saying goes the ball is round and could roll either way
