The question is who would beat him. Warren is shrewd and the frontrunner to win the nomination right now but I don't think she'll play well in the general election. Free college and Medicare for all are both radical and expensive concept's. Biden and Sanders are lame ducks in the primary contest although Biden would surely smash trump in a general election... He's the safe one term only guy that makes sure Trump's out and handover to someone else in 2024... Harris has bombed due to really failing to connect with people on a human level, and going too far to the left in a crowded field. Pete Buttigieg is possibly the most talented candidate in a generation but being gay and married would crush the African American turnout which would hurt the Dems chances.

No one will beat Trump unless the stock market suddenly tanks. Whoever runs against him is irrelevant.

Oh shit, this guy should be kept away from Barr’s custody so he doesn’t get the Epstein treatment

If it still happens, we can start referring to it as the Epstein-Barr virus.

As they say anyone can make money in America

I wonder if the result means 55% of trump voters would just vote the donkey option on a poll because they just don't give a fuck.

Alternatively if 55% of trump voters would correlate with those who say they disagree with the emancipation proclamation and/or civil rights Act.

A San Diego congressman is pleading guilty to campaign finance violations... that not too long ago he was saying were just a witch hunt against him for his support for the orange moron xD Too bad he's just going to go to a Martha Stewart white collar prison.

Unbelievable to see a white house letterhead on this text.

The trump presidency had been the most disgusting erosion of truth in my lifetime by far.

We're basically at the point the sky is red.

If that’s the legal advice he’s been getting, no wonder he’s so delusional.

Nixon’s White House Counsel John Dean suggested that the House impeach him now and don’t send it to senate for trial but keep investigating, to hang it over his head & send it to the senate after the election.

I think that’s not a bad idea from a political strategy perspective. Keeping Trump’s blatant criminality in the news, rather than sending it to a kangaroo court where the senate republicans just ignore flagrant law violations, is probably the most effective way to remind voters that he’s not fit to be president.

That would hurt trump but they're also trying to take back the senate and GOP senators who's vote to give trump a pass will be public enemy number one and improve the chances of taking them both back together (only chance of getting actual legislation through)

So nothings happened then. Trump owns the Senate much like Palpatine.

It would be impossible to get two thirds of the senate to convict him in the current climate.

He once claimed he could shoot someone in fifth Avenue and get away with it, that's basically been proven true.

This is a step in the right direction, no, that he's been impeached?

How long does the trial last for the Senate?

Depends on Mitch McConnell. Likely he'll push through a quick trial with no witnesses and acquit trump. Get it done and out of the press.

Some, including trump and democrats, are calling on him to run a proper trial... call witnesses and have the likes of Rudy Giuliani, John Bolton, Lev Parnas and others. This would fling more mud but it's essentially what a proper trial would dictate... Republicans would call up Hunter Biden and turn the Hunter Biden thing into Hillary Clinton emails mark 2 leaving Biden looking like damage goods. Trump and others would risk making matters worse and they'd be rolling into the election next year with impeachment still in the headlines

Well it won't even start until the House has said the Senate can guarantee a "fair trial" & they release the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate. Given that just days ago, the Senate leader (a Republican) said he would be conducting the trial under Trump's lawyers' guidance (which is essentially like saying the prosecutor and over half the members of the jury will be working with the defense)… it may take some time for it to even reach the Senate.

It looks like the Democrats are going to dangle impeachment over Trump's head for a while, as Senate Republicans were essentially saying "don't worry, we will hold a sham trial and acquit you" - meanwhile they're going to be investigating other impeachable offenses. So before it reaches the senate, I think their plan is to keep impeachment in the news and keep adding additional articles (which are basically like criminal charges in a sense) for the eventual Senate trial to be litigated.

Theoretically, the House could send these Articles over in the thick of many of these Senators reelection campaigns, while keeping impeachment as the hot political topic.
