I have absolutely no idea what to expect from this.

When I don't fancy us at all, we have a tendancy to scrape something out the game and when I feel we should win, we find ingenious ways not too. This is Jesse Marsch's Leeds United in a nutshell. Frustrating.

We're in desperate need of a win. It's getting too close for my liking and we don't have the gimme's of Norwich and Watford going down like we did last year.

These players have been accused of being 'scared' on the ball by Marsch. He has a point, confidence is lacking and I think there is fear in making mistakes, however, his tactics are setting them up to fail. It's a vicious cycle.

The nuts and bolts of it is it's far too easy for teams to score against us and we aren't managing the game correctly in the right moments as West Ham home proved.

Got a feeling Villa pip us tonight. I don't think Villa are that much in front of us ability wise man for man, but I think defensively they are more disciplined as a team and with Emery, I think tactically they will exploit that.

I just know that by 10pm tonight, Jesse Marsch's voice in his post match comments will be going right through me.

What can you do sometimes?

Cry? Laugh? Throw things to feel better?

We've let in a typical soft Leeds goal 2mins in from our own corner (Of course) but besides that, created and missed some great chances.

Nevermind losing, we should be winning.

That is a half that encapsulates Leeds United so well. Same mistakes, no clinicality.

So, so frustrating, especially when you see the HT stats. Villa can't believe it I bet.

That sums up our season. Look bright going forward, create chances, miss some inexplicable chances and concede so easily. It's beyond frustrating because we offer more than some sides footballing wise but we have nothing to show for it.

Again, just like West Ham, we've found a way to not win a game we've deserved to against a 'so so' side near us.

Aston Villa have won a game of Football tonight where they really haven't done enough to warrant it. That's what's so frustrating.

That first half was a massive mugging, we should have gone in 3-1 up, let alone 1-0 down.

Second half, we are on top and the Villa goal comes out of nowhere and it just knocks the stuffing out of you. You could see how desperate we became at 2-0 and we just lost any shape we had. It was literally about giving the ball to Gnonto and watch him terrorise Ashley Young.

As I keep saying, nothing changes tactically. This defence is taking this team down. Same old mistakes.

Jesse Marsch said to be brave. So he pushes 9 men in the box for the first corner in the 2nd minute. Villa score from it. How did that work out for us Jesse?

Honestly, done with this guy. 2 wins in 17. It's unjustifyable but he's getting away with it because he's likeable.

Don't get it. Have to be ruthless. Get him gone.

I feel with these 2 clubs, the other has what the other needs most to push on & challenge the likes of Fulham, Brighton & Brentford.

Villa with some good fortune in that. Still not really looking entirely convincing, even to me, that they will push on significantly from this current position. And at times like Leeds intensity was problematic to cope with.

But Villa do have Bailey & Buendia starting to seem like Unai Emery's style may suit them. Watkins has to go off, so Ings, the higher scorer this season comes on. And Emi Martinez, Douglas Luiz & Boubacar Kamara all look like players that would be pushing for starting spots anywhere.  There are 4 or 5 Villa players that will eventually go onto loftier things, if Villa don't as a club.

@Lucas Who would you get in to replace him?

I agree that he should go. Just isn’t going to work out because he seems to be fully going for the “all vibes” approach to managing you’s.

He's trying to stick to a system that relies on quality moments rather than quality from the team. It rarely works.

Defensively, he's has us since preseason susceptable to the counter attack. Our full backs don't stand a chance. Hasn't changed it once.

For me, I quite like that Sporting Lisbon manager but also Celtic's manager, Ange Postecoglu. I think he could implement his style well with the young, attacking players we have.

Pochettino would be great and I think he'd get it too, but I also think he'd possibly wait for something bigger.

Unai Emery's opening 6 league games:

Villa 3 - 1 Man United

Brighton 1 - 2 Villa

Villa 1 - 3 Liverpool

Spurs 0 - 2 Villa

Villa 1 - 1 Wolves

Villa 2 - 1 Leeds

Southampton (a), Leicester (h) before Man City & Arsenal followed by another run of bottom half sides into early April.

I would say I feel fascinated to see how the next few month's go. Not quite excited yet. Just fascinated for now.

Jesse Marsch has come on Sky TV and said "I would take more losses and good performances because it could then push is on to be the team I ultimateluly want us to be"

I'm gobsmacked.

I didn't see the match or the interview. From what you have just said he could mean that he would take good performance even if it meant losing because eventually they would turn into wins. Sometimes if you stick with a system it does work better in the long term. However that's no good to Leeds if they go down. Also managers near the bottom don't tend to get long when they are near the bottom.

I do think Leeds could do well if they had the right manager and they stuck with him. However there has to be some signs that it will work. If I remember rightly when bielsa was fired you were in the relegation zone and conceding a lot of goals??

When arteta took over us we finished 8th in his first half season(although did win the fa cup) then 8th the season after. So we didn't really improve till his second full season in charge. Now that doesn't mean it will work at Leeds. And I'm not saying Jesse Marsh in the right man. I don't really know much about your players. However I do think that a team like Leeds with a high status in England and I'm assuming good finances? Could do well if they stuck with a manager for a few seasons. But again I'm not saying marsh is that man.

Emery did do ok in his first season with us. He was sacked after a terrible run in his second season but arteta had a similar run and he kept his job. Some have said it was clear we had more of an identity with arteta even then. However a big majority of arsenal fans did want him gone at the time.

I'm glad Emery did go because we are doing well now but he did better with us than some make out. Like I said about leeds I do think villa have potential if they stick with a good manager and dont sack him after a few bad results. Perhaps Emery is that man?

I think he is as safe as any manager could be. Regardless what goes on the rest of this season. And even if it's a slow start next season. Even if we don't get near Top 7 or whatever.

He's got 13 points out of the first 18. Without his bounce, at best we may well have only got.. 4 to 6 perhaps? We would almost certainly have remained well & truly in the relegation battle.

On 25 at halfway, even this squad must be near safety. Just 5 more wins from 19?

And I hope people in & around Villa, including the fans, don't get too impatient to press on to where we used to be. We've been nowhere near since Martin O'Neill had a bit to spend over 10 years ago. There is lots of catching up still to do. How global the game is. The funding some clubs get. How many clubs have been coping with it all much better than Villa for a long long time.

I definitely think we should give time to someone who can at least keep us well away from danger. As the first priority. These owners, with this manager.. it all seems & feels right & good.. that surely there will be progress.
