It's the way it will go in the west pretty much, the browning of the states/ west will not be peaceful.

It's like that Bernie supporter a month or two back that shot a republican at a baseball game. The left & right have become intolerant of one another and automatically attribute the characteristics of the far fringe elements to the main.  The polarised view presented by both sides just exacerbates the problem and we'll see more of this.

This had fuck all to do with "browning" - it's white supremacists angry their state is taking down Confederate monuments, which glorify fighting a war for slavery. They want to "take their country back" which either means bring back slavery, or kill all non-whites & "race traitors", or some other in between. These people are scum.

You're saying it has nothing to do with the browning but they're taking down statues to appease and pander to a growning ethnic population. To be honest I don't know why they're protesting and I don't really care. For me the wider issue which is escalating violence between right & left. Regardless of what caused this particular issue it's just the latest in a catalogue of violence stretching back about 12 month now in the states. You're just pissy because in this case the perp is a silly little Nazi, we don't see you get on your high horse when lefties shut down colleges with violence. As I mentioned above the shooting of a senator by a far left whack job just slip your mind?

And yes as I said the browning won't be peaceful from either side basic history of large changes in racial make up of any state has never been peaceful. I'd question the intelligence of anyone who thought it was going to be different this time. You only have to have a scroll on twitter to find some black lives matter cretin wishing "whites were extinct".

I generally dislike the removal of artifacts and monuments but one must really wonder what a statue of Nathaniel Bedford Forrest achieves. Though I suppose he did sort of reform and reject the racism of the KKK in his later years, much like Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam; their legacies are more remembered for the extremism over the reform. For the English, what a removal of the Westminster statue of Oliver Cromwell mean? Would it be from Irish pressure or internal shame about the past? There is a deep cognitive dissonance concerning the South but most Americans would rather forget than accept what humans are capable of.

Oliver Cromwell was arguably a bastard.

But these statues are 1.) A monument to treason - the south was in open rebellion, 2.) Glorifying slavery.

If the south really wants to glorify that shit, then they're treasonous racists. Because the civil war was about those slaves rights to own black people - whenever anyone says otherwise, I point them to the reasons states rebelled: https://www.civilwar.org/learn/primary-sources/declaration-causes-seceding-states (hint: it's slavery).

Being proud of that history is like flying a Nazi flag as a German.

I'm not going to argue with some  of the racist alt-right crap posted on here. I can't change a racist who's spent years forming that view, and these people are probably incredibly happy that this alt-right bullshit is now mainstream.

But these people are extremists, and just like radical Islamists, White Nationalists have no place in Western Democracy. It's a shame that needs to even be said in 2017.

I'm glad to see even American Republicans are calling this a domestic terror incident. It's about fucking time they rejected the alt-right.

People would start googling who Cromwell was and pick a side.

Removing a statue is an antagonistic move which will deepen divisions.

If that statue was the focal point of a modern racialist movement (such as certain Nazi sites in Germany can be) then the removal of that site is perhaps necessary in the process of muting the racialist movement because they don't go away by themselves, they can grow.

You've really gone full nuts haven't you, at first I thought you were just a bit angry but ultimately had a perspective on things. I mean who doesn't think Islam can be a problem?

Trying to excuse white supremacists is a whole new level though, fuck me, I thought this forum has always been very right-wing but we've got apologetic shit like this now.

As for the march, I've always said it, watch out for the fat, nerdy kids who like computer games and heavy metal in school, they've unable to fit in with society and this kind of thing is the result.

Who is right-wing besides Fairy?

Hilarious that these idiots call themselves American patriots while obsessively and defiantly brandishing Nazi tattoos and confederate battle flags, both of which are deeply anti-American. Same sort of people that confuse being American and a conservative Christian as the same thing. Other than the slavery that was present, these people would be horrified by the founding fathers of the US.

This forum is very left of center.  Moderate conservatives would stand out in this crowd.

I worry that Trump has given certain types of people a voice.  This will likely continue on and off for the remaining 3 years of his time in office.

Maybe by American standards. I think there's a few notably far right posters here, and then mostly some lefty views, with varying levels of moderate-ness and the political spectrum thread kind of highlights that.

I would hope condemnation of Nazis and the Klan would transcend most left-right paradigms. Just like other terror attacks.

Lincoln was a monstrous racist, shall we take down that monument to? Shall we raise the collesum in Rome? That glorifies slavery. It's gibberish what was socially acceptable years ago is vastly different today, holding it to today's standard and getting upset about something nobody living has expierienced is largely a task I'd associate with idiots.

The Alt right split pretty quickly after leftist media latched onto Spencer and his silly Neo Nazi crowd and decided that this would be what they're going to put forth to the mainstream as the Alt right. Many disavowed them and their bigotry and formed new right or whatever silly tag they have. Actual Nazi's who identify as Alt-Right are a couple of thousand but they're happy to appear bigger than they are, something leftist media has been happy to perpetuate. I'd say have a look but you won't, you're still watching CNN so whatever shite their pumping out will do mate ignore me👍🏻

Where have I excused them? I think my only comment was "silly little Nazi" but whatever it suits the argument to just portray those who disagree as a bigot and avoid specific questions.

Panflute (hopefully I've read his post correctly) and myself are just pointing out that when you start a campaign of violence you will get blow back. I'm unaware as to either of us picking sides. If my post has come across that way then it's just me not really accentuating my point properly.

For what it's worth I think far right & left are both cunts, I'm right wing on certain issues I freely admit but I'm not far right.

I love how you then go on to pidgeon hole people at the end of your post, it really rams home how much intelligence you bring to these topics. I think in future if you're not going to add anything to a discussion, you should just take your accusations and fuck off to a silly thread.

The Klan probably about 500 cousin fucking pyromaniacs in bedsheets running around the south, how they keep getting brought up is staggering. They're literally a more retarded freemasonry movement in today's day & age. God you're hysterical, what's happened is obviously horrific but it's just the latest in a long line of political intolerance in the states that's gone back 12 months. The fact you are so hysterical about this is blatantly because it's right on left, your hypocrisy and utter failure to acknowledge that this is because both groups are cunts makes me howl. The fucking Klan 😂😂😂 it's 2017

Trumps victory has emboldened them, the Internet is what has given a voice. It's also worth noting that removing statues will only play into the victimhood exhibited by far right white supremacist types.

I'm centre right, I can be pretty left on some issues. There's more than me but you get a stigma by being of a right wing persuasion here mate.

That isn't my opinion. TAD was obviously referring to you when he made the comment and I was curious to whom else he would shoehorn as a right-winger. A funny observation though, you state it is a stigma to be right-wing on here and TAD claims that this forum is right-wing.

According to political compass I'm far-left authoritarian, which goes to show how much those labels are worth.

In regard to the topic:

- 'Condemning' or 'disavowing' things is a dumb game that politicians play and I have no intent of participating in it. I'll leave that to all the blue mark Twitter bugmen.

- Regardless, I won't shed a single tear for antifa scumbags who would literally want me dead. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
