Since lap 23 or 24 Vettel is driving with a damaged front axis, which is why he needs to steer 20° to the left in order to drive straight.

too much kerbing apparently.

They should have let Raikkonen pass as he was the faster car. Now he's being held up and given Hamilton a chance to close in and put pressure on at the least.

Shocking from Ferrari not letting Kimi past earlier on in the race. Why????

Fair play to Mercedes as a whole, giving Lewis a chance as he was faster and then Lewis letting Bottas back past. They're definitely more of a team this season at Mercedes.

Feel for Ricciardo and Kimi.

So in the end Ferrari did everything right as this was the best possible result for the championship. Would have been a shame if Kimi's race got ruined by being held up though.

Nope, Seb said he felt it when they dropped the car onto the grid. The cause for this was probably some mechanic's fault or a faulty part, kerbing just made the problem worse.

Dramatic start, tense race, anti-climactic. Hamilton did well to let Bottas back through because with the gap there he could have got away with not doing it.

We'll see how it goes. We have Belgium and Italy next which should both play to Mercedes' strengths. Apart from the first few flyaway races, Mercedes have had the edge on speed at pretty much every track besides the full-downforce tracks Monaco and Hungary. Someone quite rightly said today though that Ferrari and Red Bull were both competitive at Austria which should have been a Mercedes track too, so we don't know.

The remaining races should suit

Mercedes - Belgium, Italy, Malaysia.

Ferrari - Singapore, maybe Japan and maybe Abu Dhabi.

Hard to say - United States, Mexico, Brazil.

It's worth noting that Red Bull are likely to be close to the front at Singapore and probably Japan too.

My gut feeling based on Ferrari generally being better at high downforce circuits and Mercedes stronger on long straights.

So at the end of the season will it be Hamilton or Vettel? Not who you want to win but who do we all think will win?

Genuine 50/50 and very hard to call for me. Exciting times ahead.

Kubica fastest this morning in testing. No doubt they took some of the fuel out and did a fast run just to grab the headlines. The more positive publicity this move gets, the more they can justify putting him in the car next year or even as soon as Belgium.
