Administrator Batard Posted September 3, 2017 Administrator Posted September 3, 2017 ... The three foreigners hadn't been forcibly dropped by European law and his every league across Europe may have been affected. I ask this question because France is realising another potentially (and I hate to use the phrase) "Golden" generation. Yes there are foreign imports in Ligue 1 but so many teams field French players, particularly younger home grown players. I honestly don't believe the majority of Ligue 1 would be affected, PSG certainly would. So think of Premier League and your team, how would they fair with only 3 foreigners in a starting XI, would your team actively promote youth? One thing is certain, the prices for home grown players would still be astronicmal. I look at Arsenal and ponder whether they could even field a team. Southampton in particular certainly could. How different would the last 20 years of European and world football been?
HK85 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Assuming ROI is foreign; Pickford Coleman, Jagielka, Keane, Baines Davies, Gana, Schneiderlin Lookman, Rooney, Calvert-Lewin Not much difference.

Administrator Stan Posted September 3, 2017 Administrator Posted September 3, 2017 Schmeichel Simpson - Morgan - Maguire - Fuchs Albrighton - James - Ndidi - Mahrez Vardy - Okazaki That was our last starting XI with 6 foreigners. It would be distinctly weakened with home-grown players replacing 3 of those. I think Iheanacho is home-grown? Schmeichel Simpson - Morgan - Maguire - Chilwell Albrighton - James - King - Mahrez Vardy - Iheanacho

He's eligible ... at least was eligible to play for England which means I'm sure he has dual citizenship

Redcanuck Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 United should be able to field a team from the following; would have to play a few players out of position and recall Sam Johnstone from loan. Youth: Rashford, Fosu-Mensah, Borthwick-Jackson, Andreas Pereira, Joel Castro Pereira, Axel Tuanzebe, Tahith Chong, Gomas, McTominay, Mitchell. Senior homegrown players (2017/18) Jones, Pogba, Smalling, Lingard, Carrick, Young, Shaw, Lukaku, Januzaj = 9 Plus: Sam Johnstone and James Wilson currently on loan

Redcanuck Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Forgot about the three foreigners. I am not all that good at putting line ups together but here goes. De Gea Valencia Jones Smalling Shaw Carrick Matic Pogba Lingard Lukaku Rashford You could still have the likes of Young, Jackson, Tuanzebe, on the bench

My point really is United have no worries on the home grown front. Would make the team weaker but we could put out a decent team.

No shape or organisation to it and very narrow. They'd get overridden so easily. Unless you sacrifice Ozil for Monreal/Kolasinac as a LB.
