A mystery individual has been forever banned from posting on Planetf1. The indidual wrote how he wanted George Russell to do Kelly Piquet face down, while Max and his dad are tied to a chair, and forced to watch.

Feedback given for ban said, your comment about Kelly was vile.

Stay tuned for further updates.

I know that Merc do have good straight line speed, they did at Vegas last week. Just have a gut feeling, but I'll avoid it this week.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Results

Screenshot2024-12-09at12_10_59.thumb.png.2ebb21e7c043190fa0c43ddba12e2a1b.png

With both championships on the line going into the final race of the season, it was a dramatic weekend for the F1 Prediction League.

Only three people correctly predicted Lando Norris for pole position, with title contenders @RandoEFC and @Tommy cancelling each other out with 5 points each. @Whiskey also picked up 5 points here on his way to a strong score for the weekend.

On to the race, and @Tommy and @Whiskey stuck with a Norris pole to win double to pick up another 5 points, with @Stan the only one to bag 5 points for Norris' victory. @RandoEFC, @MUFC, @Dave, @DeadLinesman and @OrangeKhrush all had to settle for 2 points each for predicting P2 for the McLaren driver. Nobody held out much hope for Ferrari's Constructors' championship hopes this weekend. Only @nudge and @Dave dared to predict a top 3 finish for Carlos Sainz, but they missed by one position and had to settle for 2 points. Meanwhile, nobody backed Charles Leclerc to overcome his 10-place grid penalty and score a podium finish, so it was a low-scoring set of podium predictions overall.

On to random driver Jack Doohan, and nobody was particularly optimistic about his chances, but it was @Dave and @DeadLinesman who nailed his 15th place and picked up 5 more points each.

The bonus question asked us to predict one driver from a set of team-mates enjoying their last race together. @RandoEFC and @MUFC's pick of Bottas looked good when the Finn reached Q3 in qualifying but an incident-strewn race saw him retire in his F1 swan-song. @DeadLinesman and @OrangeKhrush were robbed as Russell lost position to his team-mate on the final lap. Alex Albon dropped out of the points late in the race, but with his team-mate retiring, 11th place was still enough to deliver 5 points for @nudge in this prediction. Finally, @Stan, @Tommy, @Whiskey and @Dave took the smart route of backing Carlos Sainz in light of his team-mate's 10 place grid penalty, and the Spaniard delivered a strong P2 and 5 points each in his final outing in the red car.

Season Predictions - Results

As expected, the final race sees no change to the provisional results posted last week. A quick recap:

  • Everyone scored 10 points for WDC. It was 20 points for the winner and 10 points if your guy comes 2nd or 3rd but we did half points for Verstappen/Red Bull this season.
  • Everyone except for 2 people scored 5 points here due to the Red Bull rule of getting half points. @Tommy got 10 points for Ferrari's top three finish. @RandoEFC got nothing as Mercedes finished 4th.
  • Seven different drivers won a race this season so 5 points went to @Tommy and @OrangeKhrush who came closest to this total.
  • Five different constructors finished on the podium at least once so @MUFC, @nudge, @Whiskey and @Dave can thank Alpine's performance in Brazil for their 10 points here.
  • Nobody predicted the driver with the most retirements (Albon with 6) so @RandoEFC picked up 5 consolation points as Gasly had more DNFs than any of the other drivers who saw backing.
  • @Dave and @Coma get 10 points each for getting the most driver head-to-heads correct (9 out of 10). There are some quite amusing quirks in this area such as Piastri and Stroll being seen as potentially close pre-season and Ricciardo beating Zhou despite being dropped with a quarter of the season remaining.

As the joint-top scorer this weekend, @Tommy finally ends up on top and wins the championship after a season of lead changes at the top. Congratulations! Last season's champion @RandoEFC has to settle for 2nd place while @OrangeKhrush takes 3rd place despite tailing off in the last few races.

@Dave's double figure haul in the final race sees him pip his team-mate @MUFC to 4th place in the standings. @Stan, @nudge and @DeadLinesman weren't too far apart and @Whiskey's long road to remove himself from the bottom of the table ends in success following @Coma's extended absence.

The Constructors' championship was comfortable for Red Bull in the end, with Mercedes and McLaren failing to break 20 points in the final race. Congratulations to @Tommy and @nudge! The battle of the often one-car teams at the bottom goes in favour of Aston Martin but Ferrari end the season with the highest score at the final round.

Drivers' Champion: @Tommy

Constructors' Champion: Red Bull ( @Tommy and @nudge )

Thanks to all for taking part! I hope to see all of you back for next season!

Don't worry about it mate. I had a shite first quarter which didn't help. As for the 11 points, no way should you have got a 10 second stop go penalty.

Sincere apologies to @RandoEFC, as always that was a fantastic fantasy year and I can only imagine that hard work that goes into it behind the scenes. Unfortunately, life (two kids is fantastic - honestly) meant that I was simply unable to log in and predict each time, appreciate the messages so I could keep playing and glad to get myself off the bottom at the last attempt!

As punishment I want to see @Daveface down painted in McLaren Papaya, forced to make engine sounds while @MUFC and @Tommy tickle each others feet and laugh.
