Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Razvan Marin scores Ukraine's 2nd goal! Another powerful strike from outside the area! This was not in the script for me. Romania 2-0 Ukraine Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 This bloody Romanian team defend in numbers and then counter attack like lightening in numbers. Their game plan has definitely worked so far. Ukraine have a mountain to climb now if they want to get anything out of this game. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Dennis Man scores a 3rd goal for Romania! Game over for Ukraine. Romania 3-0 Ukraine Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Dennis Man's goal didn't look offside to be honest. Now I understand why this Romanian side defeated Switzerland during qualification and topped their group. They're bloody tough to play against. Quote
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted June 17 Subscriber Posted June 17 Kinda expecting this to get to 4 now because at some point the Ukraine are going to have to start pushing a bit harder leaving more open spaces which Romania will happily exploit. Quote
Lucas Posted June 17 Posted June 17 (edited) Feels like a home game for Romania judging by the sound of their support. They're playing like their life depends on it. Love to see someone unexpected make a statement. They are also my work sweepstake team Edited June 17 by Lucas Quote

Yeah, they have packed the Munich stadium with their fans. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Last throw of the dice for Rebrov, as he brings on 3 subs, Yaremchuk, Yarmolenko and Brazhko. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Yarmolenko has a shot on the half-volley in the area fly over the bar. Quote
Administrator Stan Posted June 17 Author Administrator Posted June 17 42 minutes ago, Michael said: It might have something to do with the fact that Romania almost have their whole team in their own penalty area when they defend. Mudryk, Sudakov, Dovbyk and Co were getting past players, but it is difficult to get past so many players. The Romanians are very compact when they defend. Yep, they are compact. And at the time it made for a poor game to watch from a neutral perspective Quote

Yeah, they have packed the Munich stadium with their fans. Have to say, from what I've seen they are going to give the current Belgium side a game on this showing. Ukraine look exactly what they are tbh, a young, inexperienced side. They'll learn a lot from this though. 1 Quote
6666 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Romania's gameplay working to perfection. Ukraine have barely troubled the Romanian keeper. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Dragusin and the Romanian defence have been excellent in cutting out the whipped in Ukrainian crosses, as well as in blocking the shots. This Romanian side has a similar resemblance to the Romanian team of the 90's, looking at how they are set up. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 A powerful shot from outside the area by Sudakov is well saved by Nita in the Romanian goal. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Dovbyk puts Mudryk through, but Mudryk's shot goes over the bar at the near post. Quote
Administrator Stan Posted June 17 Author Administrator Posted June 17 Ukraine have been somewhat underwhelming considering the hype they were given before the tournament. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Malinovskyi on for the talented but inexperienced Sudakov. Ukraine might as well take shots at goal at this stage of the game, so it's probably a good decision. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 (edited) Puscas almost scores an own goal from Malinovskyi's swerving cross from a corner. Edited June 17 by Michael Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Yaremchuk has a hooked shot at goal hit the top of the bar. Yaremchuk has looked lively since he has come on. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Mudryk has a powerful long range shot saved by Nita in the Romanian goal. Quote

I was hyping them, not sure the bookies were. This game's gone all wrong for them and when you're down 3-0, psychologically it's pretty hard to lift yourself. Especially against a team like this Romanian team, who defend in numbers, are excellently organised the way they battle like their lives depend on it. Their defence was impressive, very hard to break down. They had all their players in their penalty box at times. Ukraine will have to regroup after this match and play like how they have shown they can play in other games before this tournament. Maybe they should play the more robust Brazhko next to Stepanenko in midfield, instead of the more offensive Shaparenko(he was to blame for Romania's 3rd goal). Shaparenko didn't have a good game, Ukraine should play more of a ball winner in that position. Shaparenko prefers playing in a more attacking midfield position. Also Mykolenko is much better defensively at left-back than Zinchenko. Ukraine will hope that Mykolenko gets back from his injury to play some part in this tournament. Lunin will be blamed for 2 of the goals, although the shot from the 1st goal was unstoppable. Lunin is usually excellent, so I think Rebrov should keep faith with him, even if Trubin is another class keeper on the bench. All in all, Ukraine need to drastically improve and cut out the mistakes. Romania deserve this win and if they continue this level of play and discipline, they will be tough for any team to play against. Quote
Michael Posted June 17 Posted June 17 It's a must win game for Ukraine against Slovakia in their next match. Then they'll look to try and get something out of the match against Belgium. Quote
Carnivore Chris Posted June 17 Posted June 17 (edited) This was a surprising result. Ukraine have some good players and you'd have expected them to get have beaten Romania. Impressive from the Romanians and it makes you wonder what they can do in the tournament from here on and whether we could have a darkhorse on our hands. Edited June 17 by Carnivore Chris Quote
Devil-Dick Willie Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Get fucked @Michael You conned me into betting on Ukraine to beat these comfortably. Quote
