Currently reading a book about how football changed in the 50s/60s, and there's a chapter that basically focuses on society immediately after the war. Such was rationing in the post-war period that, on the Ashes tour of 1946, two England fast bowlers actually put on two stone.

Quite a few skyscrapers including the tallest Burj Khalifa are not connected to any central sewerage system. Trucks take out the poop from the building everyday.

When the pyramids were being built wooley mammoths were still alive 

Also Cleopatra was alive nearer to the time when the iPhone was invented than when the pyramids were built. They were buit thousands of years before she was born
