They should scrap the competition in its entirety, everyone moaned before the controversial changes made last summer, it just heightened people's moaning.

If they do keep the competition they should have rules for all, not rules for some like they had this year where Luton were fined for playing a certain number of their academy products, whereas Leicester (amongst others) played 'over-age' players and nothing was said.

I found it a joke that Wasilewski and Hammond were allowed to play in this, especially when it's targeted and giving academy players and products a taste of experience at a higher level as opposed to just their own age-group league tournament.

Equally found it a joke that the Football League have the audacity to fine clubs to the amount of £5000 for 'weakened' sides, despite lower league clubs not having the biggest squads and being required to play 50+ games in an already cramped season.

Football League are a mess and unless the rules are relaxed on competition like this (as suggested in the article) then it needs to be scrapped or postponed. Fans clearly aren't interested in it. Stupid attendance figures like 300-400 people in a 10000-15000 capacity stadium is just embarrassing.

I think changes have to be made in the League Cup competition as well. But that's a different conversation for a different day.

They shouldn't include the under-23 teams, just have it as they used to and use it as a cup competition for the lower league sides. It adds a bit more to the season and gives them a chance to win a domestic trophy.

Most teams think it's a massive inconvenience until they get to the last four of the competition. They may as well scrap it.

Same as the League Cup then, I think they need to keep it. Nobody complains when they get a day out at Wembley through it!

Scrap the whole thing for reasons previously mentioned. Clubs in League Two cannot afford to bolster squads for needless games. Let alone risk being fined because somebody determines a certain side being weak. I understand they want Premier League clubs to expose players under the age of 23 to more competitive football at their current clubs but this is the wrong way of going about it.

Everybody slates it but the way Chelsea have gone about it is the way to do it if you;ve got the resources to do so. They won the Under 19 version of the Champions League with a squad and allowed those players to learn a new way of playing football in Holland which should benefit most of them in the long run. It doesn't take a genius to recognise how Eric Dier has benefitted from growing as a player outside the Premier League bubble in Portugal.

Better luck next time.

For the betterment of this country it would be great to allow U23s into the pyramid.

That PL2 isn't what these lads needs at that age and loans can go any way. You can't guarantee the player is being coached correctly, in the position their parent club want or that he will play. Keep them with their club but in L2/1.

All our 'talents' are shite and/or overrated anyway. Big clubs don't even promote kids anyway so we should scrap academies so the big clubs can distribute that money saved amongst their highest earners.

Opportunities are scarce for these kids to play competitive league football unless a loan arises.

The lower leagues should know their role in this country and allow B teams to compete in their league.
