TomTsportresearcher
Hi all! I'm Tom Taylor, a Sport Sociology student at the University of Brighton. I'm currently researching globalisation, football and fan culture. My research has led me to this page, I'm interested in Red Bull and RB Leipzig. I think the Red Bull project is very interesting and it keeps on getting more interesting... I don't know if anybody has seen this article? https://www.dw.com/en/bundesliga-paderborn-fans-threaten-boycott-over-rb-leipzig-cooperation/a-49073501 I am a complete newbie, but so far it's been great to browse through some of the threads and I hope I can fully participate in some myself. In terms of football, I am a massive Aston Villa supporter and from having spent a year in South Korea I also closely follow the K-league, my 'team' is Gyeongnam fc. Looking forward to talking football with this community. Thanks, Tom T
Subscriber nudge+ Posted June 12, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted June 12, 2019 Welcome aboard, Tom You should find quite a few posts on Red Bull/RB Leipzig (as well as investors and 50+1 rule in general) in our German football section; 99% of it will most likely be negative as the majority of us posting there are more or less "traditionalists" when it comes to football. The off-season is a bit slow so we haven't had a topic for the new RB and Paderborn cooperation yet; feel free to open one! Is your research primarily focused on Red Bull or is it just a small part of it?

Moderator Tommy Posted June 12, 2019 Moderator Share Posted June 12, 2019 Welcome aboard. You might find a great test subject in me. The downfall and commerlization of football has brought me back to my home team, after I stupidly pretended to love a rich foreign lady. And yes, Red Bullshit Leipzig sucks, and I hope they cease to exist as soon as possible. All that said, welcome aboard!

So I'm using RB Leipzig as a case study to discuss globalisation, commercialisation and fan culture - the case study helps me to manage all of this by focusing on a fairly recent 'phenomenon' of multi-club ownership. I would like to start a new topic on this (if I can) which would include a few questions to the community. As a newbie I'm still trying to navigate my way around this forum so can I ask you, which thread/area would be best suited for this topic? Thanks,

Thanks, Given the subject material, I'd start a new topic in either the German Football subforum (https://talkfootball365.com/forum/9-german-football-forum-bundesliga/) if you want to focus on the RB Leipzig particularly or just the General Football subforum (https://talkfootball365.com/forum/22-general-football/) for the broader focus on multi-club ownership etc.; both are fine really and I don't think it matters that much where you put it We're not that strict here anyway hehe.
