  1. Wow, I know it felt like an age going through COVID but that was a long week.

  2. Labour really shooting themselves in the foot with a) their treatment of Faiza Shaheen, b) the hiring/acceptance of someone like Natalie Elphicke and c) the hiring/acceptance of Luke Akehurst into the party. All they have to do is avoid controversy and they'll keep votes. It's embarrassing seeing them try to fuck this up.

  3. Cautiously optimistic. Major positives. There's no doubt financially it's great for us. £60m in the first season then £200m spread over three years. This will now allow us some wriggle room we perhaps might not have had with potentially keeping players we thought we may need to sell, the most notable one being Archie Gray. Very lucrative deal for a team in the Championship and will allow us a solid chance to get back where we belong next season. Commercially, the club will benefit massively if they manage to gain promotion next season also. This only shows our pulliblng power and proves we are still recognised as one of the countriy's bigger clubs despite not being in the top flight. It's so annoying we couldn't go up this season because all our ducks were in a row ready to kick on under the 49ers but these things happen. Major fears were that this could lead to us selling off our name, ground, moving away from a traditional all White kit etc, but this has all been quashed by Paraag Marathe, our chairman. Red Bull will have a minority stake in the club but hold no power in changing any of the above. They will however be oir shirt sponsor which will be a bit of an eye sore tbh but bearable. There will be no board representation from them either. It would be extremely naive to assume it's all sunshines and rainbows. I'm sure the long term plan could well be to increase their stake further and further till they get to the point of taking over the club but you cannot panic over something that might not even happen. I think given the disappointment of Sunday, they club have clearly timed this press release well to raise spirits and positivity ahead of next season and get the fans on board. It won't completely numb the feeling but it will soften the blow and negativity towards what the Summer initially looked like for the club.

  7. This is why history classes are important. The university students in the US currently protesting have much more in common with the Iranians who were members of National Front & Tudeh during the Iranian revolution. They were against the Shah, but did not want the kind of life for Iranians that Khomeini, and the shitbag Khamenei who would follow him, would draw up for them. If you value things like human rights and are against oppression and you ally with Islamicists like Khamenei, Sinwar, Haniyeh, Nasrallah, or Al-Houthi... you are hurting your cause and working against your values. And at the end of the day if you help them succeed, you're probably going to bring about a whole new form of oppression you'd never really have imagined in the first place.

  9. Hate that this is slowly becoming a trend to have an icon on shirts rather than the actual club crest or just one element from it eg. Arsenal and Liverpool.

  10. A major win for Ipswich this given the teams he's been linked with. I imagine this is a sign that they're going to invest significantly to compete this season too.

  12. I'm surprised they didn't buy a majority share in MK Dons. If there's one club with good potential to grow that you could get away with changing the badge and name to no uproar in England that would be it.

  17. The historical source document called them that so I just went with their framing. In the end it smells like a lot of politicking went on and created a problem that has come back to bite them. It would be silly not to say that Biden and those in parliament with their fingers dirty from the war pie that the Military industrial complex is serving up don't want this to go on, but its a balancing act of trying to keep it going and faining interest in stopping it to get votes. The other "conspiracy" which is flausible but highly unlikely is that Biden is trying to force a internal coup de tat in the Knesset by trying to buy certain parties holding the cabinet together, the prominent person is Benny Gantz who was front runner on the polls but what needs to be stressed is that even though he is popular he will only have 41%, it sounds good but its worth nothing because 41% can't pass anything unilaterally. Likhud are still going to get around 33% of the vote and the National Unity cabinet will still need Likhud members to hold. A coup de tat will be disaster for America to push, the idea is that Gantz will withdraw from the cabinet and turn to a vote of no confidence where he hopes that the others vote him in as new prime minister that is the ideal situation Biden wants but Benny Gantz following his unauthorised flight to the US is not popular amongst the other parties. I prefer the issue to go to voting, I will vote for Yair Lapid and Yesh Atid, he has a good alliance with Ra'am (Arab party), it is probably the last chance at a two state in any viable form.
