  1. RESULTS What? Is that you Pyfish? Doing a results post ON TIME? Wow. @Viva la FCB, @Coma and @Lucas all trade for new teams with Germany, Spain and Italy beating their teams. Expected wins for @Rucksackfranzose (England) and @Bluewolf (Netherlands) means they stay put. @Stan moves to France to join @CaaC (John). @Tommy moves to Turkey. The shock result came for @nudge who's Romania team beat Ukraine. And here's the next set of matches! That screenshot has Tommy's last result on and I can't be arsed to redo it so.

  2. First round is already complete! Of the 12 matches so far, only 2 real shocks as Romania thrashed Ukraine and Slovakia surprisingly got a 1-0 win over Belgium; while no-one opted for a Romania win, two players - @Beelzebub & @Redcanuck did wisely choose Slovakia victories. The stand-out performer though is clearly @Viva la FCB, gaining a big 24 points with 3 perfect scores to kick Round 1 off. He is clear by 4 points of @Pep Talk, while @Dan & @6666 both achieved 19 points. Average points scored for the round were 14.6. Only a minor difference of 6 points separates 5th to 18th... PREDICT FOR ROUND 2 HERE - deadline is 2pm (BST) TODAY PREDICT FOR ROUND 3 HERE - deadline is 8pm (BST) on SUNDAY 23rd JUNE.

  3. You get really good pundits who haven't even played football. As long as the punditry is good who cares.

  4. His second paragraph is also wild tbh. "Globalism which is the leftist utopia is the destruction of nationhood and the establishment of a one over all. Rejecting it is not bigoted, its just rejecting the move back to empires and monarchs." Let's break it down. First is the term "globalism" - which the alt right and far right love to rally against. The alt-right and far right also use "globalist" as a politically correct slur for Jews https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/03/the-origins-of-the-globalist-slur/555479/ - so it's interesting to see a passionate zionist use the term lol. But secondly, "globalism is a leftist utopia" - but often when the right criticises globalism, I'm not sure what the fuck they're actually talking about. Do they mean the modern global economy? The modern global economy which is... dominated by the US? Because the US government is pretty far from leftist. Joe Biden, this so called left leaning socialist, would be a tory in UK politics... So if we take him to mean "globalism" as "the US global hegemony" - I think by definition, globalism isn't a leftist utopia. If anything it's a pretty right-leaning ideal. Next, let's dissect the claim that "globalism [...] is the destruction of nationhood and the establishment of one over all." As far as I can tell, nationhood still exists. There are different countries all around the world still, we've been watching an international football tournament where nations are represented by their national teams. Has the US been able to assert it's will over every country in the world? Well right now we've got Russia having invaded Ukraine and continuing their long war, against the US wishes. We've got Israel's government in an open rift with the US government. So I think it's fair to state that the claim that this globalist world we're living in has not led to the destruction of nationhood, nor have we seen the establishment of one over all. Next, we see a claim that a rejection of globalism is a rejection of the move back to empires and monarchs. Let's disregard the monarch claim because: 1.) there's several countries in the world that still have absolute monarchies, 2.) lol... if we're breaking his statement down at face value we're talking about US global hegemony - who exactly is the monarch of the United States? So let's just discuss the empire claim. The country that's most openly stated they reject US global hegemony is Russia. Russia is currently engaged in an expansionist war, trying to take away sovereignty from its neighbor in a move that can best be described as Putin desperately wishing he was ruling Imperial Russia. So the country most openly rejecting what most far-right people would call globalism is in fact... acting imperialistically. And returning back to that "establishment of a one over all" claim is so funny when someone who's a believer in BRICS makes the claim. BRICS is an attempt to challenge US economic hegemony... but because China is by far and away the biggest economic player in BRICS, they dominate BRICS (this is very much reflected by BRICS's New Development Bank's loans and funding). A believer in BRICS is a believer in China's economic rule over the other member states. And that's ignoring the fact that BRICS is a joke - they'll never be an effective economic union so long as the member states aren't anywhere close to having the same economic goals. It's just a paragraph of word salad put together with various buzzwords... but without much thought into what those words actually mean. It's bizarre. I think it's wild he can demonstrate so little knowledge about what he seems to so passionately hold as his political beliefs. In one sentence we've got a zionist using anti-semetic rhetoric... and then following it up with a hypocritical and nonsense statement. It's bizarre isn't it?

  5. Scotland don't have to finish second though. 4 points will probably get them through as one of the best third placed teams. Apart from their goal difference being minus 4 I think most Scots would have taken this before the tournament began

  6. Can se him rest those players, who already received a yellow card. Don't think there will be much more of a rotation, of course only my opinion.

  7. I don't think it was essential for Scotland to win tonight, it obviously wasn't as they can still go through if they beat Hungary and Germany beat Switzerland. But it obviously would have been better to win. Germany have basically locked up the top spot in the group, barring an absolutely catastrophic/hilarious loss to Switzerland. Wouldn't be shocked at all if there's some heavy rotation for their final group match, although idk if Nagelsmann's the kind of manager to do that (if it was me, I probably would - but I'm not a football manager). So that leaves both Hungary and Scotland both desperate to beat each other, with Switzerland also going to do their best to make it through the group as well. And they only need a point. The dream's not over for Scotland... and I'm sure even a German team that's resting it's top players will beat Switzerland tbh. But it definitely is less ideal for them. Gotta say though, it's nice to see that Shaqiri can still turn up in these tournaments and that he's still got the ability to score incredible goals like that. Love that little cube of a man.

  9. Normally if find anti woke people are basically saying they want to be allowed to be racist, sexist etc. Sure sometimes the movement goes to far at times but a lot of it makes sense. And most movements go to far at times. I find it quite ridiculous when people point out things which are clearly racist or something and they are called woke. If that what woke means I'm happy to be woke.

  11. All of the Portugal and Turkey backers progressed yesterday. I have everyone's picks for Gameweek Two apart from @Bluewolf and @Dan. If you don't manage to make a pick before the first GW2 match starts this afternoon then you can still pick from the remaining games.

  14. Been to 3 independent shows recently. 2 revpro and one a local company. Was surprised by the quality of the local one as they aren't big at all. Seen a few Tna wrestlers, dani luna, Leon slater and josh alexander. Also seen grizzled young veterans. Orange casidy showed up for one event. Seen osprey as well. Spoke to dani luna at the bristol show and told her how good her match was at a previous show. Might go to the 12 year revpro anniversary show. Its the night before all in so will stay the night if I do

  15. I get that route one football isn't the way to go, but not pumping the ball into the box to arguably the greatest aerial forward of all time is borderline incompetent. Every corner that Portugal took was short and ironically on one of the few occasions that they did put it into the mixer, Ronaldo hits the post and Jota scores (albeit offside). Not that it matters much. Portugal were absolutely shit the year they won the competition in the group stages and then clicked when it mattered. Like England, it's three points and that's literally all that matters in Game 1, given that the 3rd placed team may go through, Portugal are already all but in the knockouts. They're still 2nd favourites for me behind France and you just know the deeper we get into the tournament the more clutchness Ronaldo will become.
