Well, I live in Edinburgh can I put that down as visited as I was born in England but grew up in Australia?

Anywhere that you’ve physically been counts.

That's my 10 sent but I think I will be lucky if 2 are chosen, there are a lot of cities I would have loved to visit like Phoenix just to see the Grand Canyon, Rome & Athens for the history there, Colosseum, Acropolis etc and Cairo and see the Pyramids etc but I guess I am too old now and the only chance I would have of seeing the latter is if I won the National Lottery, sigh  :x

TF365 Top 10... Football Managers

THE RESULTS

  • 8 people voted
  • 29 managers were voted for in total
  • Every person who voted nominated the manager in #1 at some point in their top 10...
Position Manager Nationality Number of Votes Points
#1 Alex Ferguson Scottish 8 78
#2 Pep Guardiola Spanish 7 37
#3 Jose Mourinho Portugese 6 33
#4 Arsene Wenger French 5 29
#5 Marcello Lippi Italian 4 25
#6 Arrigo Sacchi Italian 3 20
#7 Jurgen Klopp German 4 19
#8 Carlo Ancelotti Italian 4 19
#9 Ottmar Hitzfeld German 3 19
#10 Bob Paisley English 3 17

Not really a surprise that Sir Alex Ferguson was the winner by an astonishing 41 points. Just the one person refused to include Pep Guardiola in their list which means he only gets second (not that it would have made any difference).

11 Vicente Del Bosque Spanish 4 16

Vicente Del Bosque just missed out on the top 10.

13 Rafael Benitez Spanish 4 15
14 Brian Clough English 4 14

Rafa Benitez and Brian Clough were the other two managers to get 4 votes but miss out on a top 10 place.

Bob Paisley is too low.

Del Bosque, who won major trophies at club and country, not in top ten is also strange.

@CaaC (John)

Read about Jock Stein from Kenny Dalglish's autobiography. He was regarded very highly back then by many.

I’m sure Shankly should be in there too but again, I wasn’t alive when they were managing.

Quite a few golden oldies from across the UK tbh, Shanks being one of them and then there was one from @Storts team that shone in the '60s and that was Bill Nicholson from Spurs golden era...

Football League First Division: 1960–61
FA Cup: 1960–61, 1961–62, 1966–67
Football League Cup: 1970–71, 1972–73
FA Charity Shield: 1961, 1962, 1967 (shared)
UEFA Cup: 1971–72
European Cup Winners' Cup: 1962–63

The double-winning side of 1960/61 was a powerhouse team with one of the hard men of then times in Dave Mackay, I will always remember that game where he had Leeds Billy Bremner held by the scruff of his neck accusing Bremner of him targetting his broken leg from the season before with Terry Venables left of the photo running across to join in the fun  xD

I’m not done with my list. It’s actually a bit difficult to rank cities tbh.

But this list reminded me of the city I enjoyed the most in China, Harbin. I wasn’t a big fan of Beijing, but Harbin was fucking great even though it was so fucking cold while I was there.

Probably means there will be a lot more upset folks at the result too ... nice.

Definitely considering the current top 10 has 2 towns in it.

This one is a lot more open than the managers one :)

More than likely no one has heard of one of my choices, Wick, in Bonny Scotland way up on the coast and one of the most beautiful places I have seen in my 70 years of life, the Old Wick Castle photo below I actually went inside that and retrieved 3 bits of 12th-century shales lying there which I bought back for the wife who has them sitting on our fire hearth since 2000.

You stand on the edge which I just about did (shiting myself) and look down at the waves crashing on the rocks below and the saying is Vikings used to live in the castle and wait for ships to get wrecked on the rocks and then forage for the wreckage.

The clue is city... we should specify populations over X amount if John is going to put in some old ruins haha

Wick is a town and royal burgh in Caithness, in the far north of Scotland. The town straddles the River Wick and extends along both sides of Wick Bay. Wick Locality had a population of 6,954 at the time of the 2011 census, a decrease of 3.8% from 2001.  :coffee:

You're not the only one who did a town so don't worry ;)

I’ll get mine in tomorrow

Once you've done yours, that'll make it 10 people who've voted so I'll get the results done.

If anyone else wants in, you've still got time!

Sorry about the delay! Took me a while to come up with a top 10 that I was happy with, I ended up fucking Harbin off the list xD - too cold.
