This game is a measure of progress and potential progress.

Last season we were appalling at home to Brighton. We had about 30% possession. An absolute disgrace. We escaped with a massively undeserved 0-0 draw.

Tactics have changed since that shithouse period. We should be winning this if we even want to entertain 10th place.

Can't speak for Newcastle but Brighton having most of the possession does not surprise me, they really grafted against us just couldn't get the goals...

Tariq Lamptey is actually immense.

I am sure he will slot right in amongst the likes of DeBruyne and Salah as one of those players we let slip right through our fingers.....

It's amazing how much a team can collapse in performance and mindset when the tactics don't work.

We need to make 4 subs at half time.

0-2 is not surprising at all given how good Brighton were against Chelsea.

Well @Steve Bruce Almighty did say that Newcastle's performance in the cup made Blackburn look like Barcelona and now they are making Brighton look like Bayern Munich....

Not sure if a sell on clause was included. He’s bound for a bigger move in the future.

We should have included a buy back clause...

I’m not sure if RB is his calling. Looks to thrive in the wing back role.

Disgusting first half. Didn't even manage a shot did we?

If we can't mount some sort of pressure and fight in the 2nd half then there's about as much hope for us under Bruce as West Ham have under Moyes who failed this particular test last week.

Prove your worth here.

How is Almiron not booked there?

This is why players dive, low risk, high reward.

Kevin Friend is usually a very lenient ref I've noticed.

Not that that should be an excuse as rules are rules.

Kevin Friend gets roundly slated, but he lives here so can't ref us xD

I'm actually glad for it to be honest. He's not the best (far from the worst, mind).
