Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted November 29, 2020 Subscriber Posted November 29, 2020 With Phil Parkinson being relieved of his manager role today, what direction do Sunderland go in next?
Administrator Stan Posted November 29, 2020 Administrator Posted November 29, 2020 Big Nige will sort them out.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted November 30, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted November 30, 2020 Gus Poyet and Danny Cowley are the bookies favourites at the moment.
Smiley Culture Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 No manager, no owners, no Academy manager either. Absolute shitshow of a club at the minute.
Lucas Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 If I was them, I'd probably contemplate getting Paul Cook. Did a really decent job at Portsmouth and Wigan and knows what it takes to get promoted. Might even get Will Grigg firing who has been a massive flop since he went there.
Subscriber JoshBRFC+ Posted November 30, 2020 Subscriber Posted November 30, 2020 Looks like they're close to having a new owner aswell. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/major-sunderland-takeover-update-emerges-as-deal-inches-ever-closer/ I think it will be Paul Cook.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted December 1, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted December 1, 2020 Paul Cook's odds have been cut overnight but Gus Poyet is still the favourite to make a return. I liked Gus so would be nice to see him come back for a second stint but I can see it being Cook as he's been in this league before and has the experience.
Dave Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Paul Cook would be a no brainer if he's interested.
Honey Honey Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 It should be Kevin Phillips. The club is dead with hardly anything left to lose.

Things could finally take a turn for them after a miserable few years.
Smiley Culture Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Isn’t the new owner some 23 year old? That would fill me with as much confidence as I would have in a blind bus driver.

Bluebird Hewitt Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Lee Johnson appointed new Sunderland manager. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55191991
Dave Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 This could be a very astute appointment if he's given the correct resources. Sets up Paul Cook to Derby if their new owners have common sense.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted December 6, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted December 6, 2020 Quite happy with Lee Johnson. It'll be interesting to see how he goes about changing the misfortunes on the pitch. Only heard mostly good things about him from the Bristol City fans I've spoken to.

Yes 6.0 is a terrible result but when you are 3rd in the league seems like a panic reaction to me. I dont think one result should cause a manager to be sacked it should be a succession of results

City fans tend to be more patient than alot of fans for some reason. Most are happy with Pierson. And by the way of anyone disagrees I live in Bristol and talk to a lot of them
ScoRoss Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 Duncan Ferguson seems to be heavily linked with the job. His odds are now as short as 1/4 with some bookmakers.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted January 31, 2022 Author Subscriber Posted January 31, 2022 Seems to be flicking between Duncan Ferguson, John Terry and a return for Gus Poyet.
OrangeKhrush Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Sunderland is the gift that keeps on giving. Not everyone sacks a manager in second place in a promotion race
Dave Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Wigan, Rotherham and Sunderland seemed certs for promotion two weeks ago. Amazing how owners can derail everything so quickly.

But his record at Ipswich was terrible. And it clearly was because of him because they were better before and after he was there until recently. The issue is his temperament. Screaming and shouting all day doesn't work in now days. And nor should it in my opinion. People deserve respect at work. Especially when you are doing the best you can and you are still getting yelled at it can he demoralising. So it will be interesting to see how he does
