Not as straight forward as it seems this. Apparently we only want him on a loan deal initially (£2.5m) with the option to buy next summer.

Seems sensible really. If he doesn't adapt very well we can send him back but if he fits in well we can buy him permanently in the summer for a reported £25m. Obviously by then we should have all of VVD, Gomez and Matip fit and Klopp and the coaching staff can make a decision on if he's good enough to challenge them for a first team spot.

Kabak is generally seen as having a lot of potential; his performances this season have been a complete disappointment, but then so has been Schalke in general, and he also missed 6 matches because of the ban he was given for spitting at one of our players.

Jamie Carragher heavily endorses his signing then.

I hated seeing that, one of the things that makes me a bit skeptical. He has denied it, so there’s a part of it that may have been an accident, but it didn’t look like it at the time. Klopp will knock that behaviour right out of him.

He will start off with a clean slate with us, I won't lie though it's a bit of a concern for me.

@SchalkeUK can you shed some light on Ozan for us?

One of my former school pupils is at present sitting in the medical room at Anfield - Ozan is better now than Joel was at that age - and he is tougher - he may lack a little finesse, but no one will boss him about and he will give as good as he gets - work rate is great and this move is typical of the idiots upstairs in Gelsenkirchen stripping the club of any up and coming talent so that they can sign old guys and slowly sink into BL2.  Not sure what is going on now, but I would back Kloppy's judgement over any of those in the Veltins!

Sky don’t half report some shite. They reckon it’ll cost us 80m to sign him in the summer 😂 Aye, because Schalke are going to loan out a player they want 80m for.

£18m is the fee mate, it's on sky sports as we speak. Think you may have heard it wrong?

My info is that 18 if about right with a reduction due to the amount being paid for the loan until the end of the season.  Kabak is keen to have quality footy and firm up his chance with his mate Kutucu in the Turkish side.  Klopp will give him that and if it doesn't work out the fee will not be too large to cause a problem - returned after the loan

Nah they had on their deadline day vlog thing before it was 80m. Obviously they realised they have quickly altered it.

Loans with the option to buy are ridiculously lopsided in favour of the buying club, especially for only £18m. Schalke must be absolutely desperate for cash if they've let him go with that clause and such a small loan fee when they're sitting bottom of the Bundesliga. That, or he's shite xD

Obviously pleased we're bringing in not one but two defenders. Not just bodies as well; Preston fans have spoken very highly of Davies and we linked with Kabak in the summer but couldn't get anything done, so he's obviously not just some random from off the street.

All for an initial outlay of about £1.5m. Thought we were going to get taken to the cleaners for deals in January?

Schalke in big financial trouble from what I've read/heard today
