People bang on about the mighty Nottingham Forest, 22nd on the league & 10th on the silverware :35_thinking: ..it's a good record but people would have you believe it's a lot better than it really is

They've been irrelevant for the best part of 2 decades now. The true definition of a club that lives in the past.

Do Leicester fans still consider them a local rival, or are you not bothered about them these days?

Not bothered about them.

Haven't been for nearly 10 years. Last bit of relevance was when we beat them 3-2 on the final day of the 12/13 season to make the play-offs at their expense. In fact that was a pretty eventful final day of the season for Leicester, Forest & Bolton all vying for 6th place. We had to beat Forest, Bolton had to beat Blackpool. Bolton went 2 down and came back to 2-2. At that point they'd have finished 6th. Then we scored a last minute winner to take us above both of them.

Can't say I've cared much about them since then but it's can't deny it's nice to see their current plight...

That’s pretty good considering I can’t even remember what year it was we last saw them in the top flight because it was so long ago.

Had a check and it was longer than I thought - 1998/99.

And in the 90s they were a pretty far cry from when they were good. I think the first season of the prem was when Clough lost his touch and they went down.

I think of them as a big club purely because they won the European Cup twice (back to back? Or were there years between? I dunno)… even though it’d maybe be the equivalent of someone like Atalanta winning the CL twice.

But they’ve clearly fallen on hard times. For most of my life they’ve been very shite.

Also this chart shows how badly Kenwright had fucked over Everton and how successful he’s been at beating the big club mentality out of the blueshite. Pretty remarkable- but it probably kept him from so much deserved pressure in the 90s, 00s, and 10s

Was back to back, otherwise they wouldn't have been qualified since they were only once English champions.:)

I would take the European Cup every day over anything else. Especially now we've got the not winning the league for so long monkey off our back.

I'm desperate for Liverpool to win both though!

Imo the CL is the most exciting tournament & most prestigious trophy. It's something the top clubs in Europe (and because that's where the big money leagues are... that means the top clubs in the world) are all desperate to win. It's a tournament with the best sides and best players in the world and the matches that become classics in the tournament are absolutely incredible tbh.

I always want us to win the league because I spent most of my life desperate for us to win the league... but my favourite competition to watch us compete in is the CL because it's just a remarkably good competition.

Rather win the league than the Champions League hands down. As a fan of a non-elite club I just can't properly relate to the Champions League and think it's overrated to be honest. The latter stages are good and it's fun when a team like Dortmund or Ajax put together a genuinely competitive team, and I'll hold my hands up and admit I'd love it if Everton were in it and saw Real Madrid or Juventus playing at Goodison or Bramley Moore, and I'd love to see Everton in any European competition because then I get to watch more football matches that I care about.

However, I just find the idea of being Champions of England much more meaningful than the Champions League in its current form. There's just too much entitlement in one place in the Champions League and too often you end up with ties in the latter stages between teams of the same country. This can actually be really good in some ways when you get two-legged ties that you don't usually get in other competitions but I'm not a fan of it in the Final. I can definitely see the appeal of the tournament if you support one of the teams that have a chance of winning it most seasons to be fair.

Ask me 10 years ago I'd of said Champions League. Now, it's Premier League over anything.

It is funny though when you look at City's success the past decade and a half and see they've accomplished fuck all in Europe. Not even in their entire history do they have any European pedigree, which I truly believe is a thing. It's the very reason why it took ages for our old guard Cech, Terry, Lampard, and Drogba to win it.

The thing with the CL is it's a cup competition and you just need a bit of luck and be in form at the right time, a team from mid table in a domestic league has won it a few times so how can you be champions of Europe when you are only the 6th best in your own country :4_joy: ..i will take the Premier League all day long, right now who ever wins that is probably the best team in the world with the state of the other leagues at present with maybe Madrid & Bayern

The CL should only be the CHAMPIONS of each league, then i might take it a bit more seriously
