Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted October 26, 2021 Subscriber Posted October 26, 2021 R.I.P. Walter, as a Gers fan I am sad, you were one of the best and my heart goes out to all the loved ones you left behind. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56381264
Inverted Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Very sad to hear. He is a big part of my memories of really getting into football when I was younger, and despite how it ended it was an incredible run to see when they got to that Europa League final.
Smiley Culture Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Associate Walter Smith with Everton myself rather than Rangers, with him being the Everton manager when I started really getting into football so it’s always sad to me when someone from that era, where I looked at football very differently, passes.
Waylander Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Never realised he was no.2 under Souness before getting his chance to manage Rangers. Always seemed a decent chap to me. RIP.
Honey Honey Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 73 is no age these days. Is there a statue at Ibrox? Probably should be.

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted October 26, 2021 Subscriber Posted October 26, 2021 Quote Sir Alex Pays His Respects Walter Smith helped United win the FA Cup in 2004. "He was only at United a short time," added our legendary former manager. "But he was fantastic. I lost Carlos Queiroz to Real Madrid and I knew I needed an assistant so I phoned Walter about it and he came for six months and helped us win the FA Cup against Millwall. He had a wonderful connection with people because he was a great listener, that was one of his greatest qualities. https://www.followfollow.com/forum/threads/sir-alex-pays-his-respects.182248/
Dr. Gonzo Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 RIP, Rangers legend for sure. I remember as a kid when Everton got him all my bluenose friends were really excited to be getting him - but I think he ended up being a bit shit as Everton manager. I remember thinking he was pretty good as manager for Scotland and then he went back to Rangers and didn't they make it to a UEFA Cup final?

Michael Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 R.I.P. Walter Smith He was a very influential manager at both Everton and Rangers. Sad to see him pass away so suddenly at only 73. Football has lost another great name.
