Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 2, 2022 Author Subscriber Share Posted November 2, 2022 Results - Mexican Grand Prix This week's prediction results are about as exciting as the race itself, as Mexico City serves up the lowest-scoring round of the year, and the least spread out score-wise. Surprisingly, Saturday's pole position prediction was only made correctly by one person, @OrangeKhrush, who stuck with the painfully predictable continuation of Max Verstappen's dominance while others backed Charles Leclerc as usual, or Sergio Perez at his home race, or Lewis Hamilton following a strong Practice display from Mercedes. Moving into Sunday, @Tommy, @Coma, @Stan and @DeadLinesman all hit the nail on the head with Verstappen's victory, although @DeadLinesman was the only one to get a different podium pick exactly correct with Perez in 3rd place. The rest of the field all had Verstappen on the podium for 2 points, and everyone had at least one of Perez or Hamilton among their picks for another couple each. @Whiskey predicted all three podium sitters correctly but none in the right position, while Ferrari's lack of competitiveness caught out the majority of the rest. Surprisingly, nobody managed to nail random driver Lewis Hamilton's 2nd place finish correctly, so the 2 points each go to @RandoEFC, @Tommy, @Stan and @Whiskey who had him in either 1st or 3rd. Finally, @nudge was the only person to get the bonus question correct. Aston Martin failed to continue their recent points-scoring form and so were unable to overtake Alfa Romeo Sauber for 6th in the Constructors' standings even before Bottas added a long overdue point to their season's tally. With scores ranging from just 6 to 10, the table hasn't changed too much this weekend. @DeadLinesman makes another incremental increase to his lead at the top as this week's top scorer. @Tommy moves back within @RandoEFC in the battle for 2nd. With MUFC absent for a fifth consecutive race, the only change in the standings sees @Stan move off the bottom. Don't forget, though, pre-season predictions are still to be calculated and included, with as many as 90 extra points on the table after the last two races. Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 2, 2022 Author Subscriber Share Posted November 2, 2022 For a little insight into where we're at on the season predictions. With the qualifying battles all settled and the winner and top three in both Drivers' and Constructors' Championships more or less certain, here's what we can start to expect the season predictions to look like: The three un-marked rows can't be determined until the last race although it looks good for Stan to pick up another 5 points for "drivers to win a race" (currently four drivers) - make that 10 points if one of the Mercedes drivers can steal a victory. Then DeadLinesman looks good for another 10 points for "constructors to score a podium". I'll have to count up the retirements one by one as that information doesn't appear to be tallied up anywhere. But DeadLinesman's pick of Hamilton for the Drivers' Championship gives myself and Tommy the chance to "Abu Dhabi" him at the very end.

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 16, 2022 Author Subscriber Share Posted November 16, 2022 Results - Brazilian Grand Prix Immediately following the Mexican Grand Prix, which was the lowest scoring weekend of the season, the Brazilian Grand Prix blows it out of the water without a single person making into double figures. Unsurprisingly, nobody predicted a pole position for Kevin Magnussen in the Haas, and nobody predicted a race victory for George Russell. @Tommy was, in fact, the only person to predict a top three finish for F1's latest Grand Prix winner at all, and scored a healthy 7 points for his podium predictions as he, along with @RandoEFC, pick up 5 points each for Hamilton's 2nd place. @DeadLinesman was the only other predictor to make a 5 point pick for Carlos Sainz in 3rd place. @Coma, @Stan, @OrangeKhrush and @Whiskey all picked up 2 points for putting Lewis Hamilton in the wrong slot in their top three, while @nudge sadly failed to pick up any points for her podium prediction. Pierre Gasly was the first driver to be drawn as the random driver for a second time this season. His 14th-placed finish was more disappointing than anyone dared predict, with @nudge and @OrangeKhrush picking up 2 consolation points each for getting closest with P12. Finally, @nudge was the only person to call the bonus question right, with not one but two changes for the lead occurring on track during the Sprint Race, Max Verstappen relieving Kevin Magnussen of his early lead before being shuffled down the order himself by George Russell. 5 points for @nudge here take her to the position of joint top-scorer this week despite scoring nothing for her regular Pole and Podium predictions! As you'd expect in a low-scoring week such as this one, the table sees minimal change. @DeadLinesman retains his lead at the top, while @Tommy and @RandoEFC swap yet again in the next two positions, and remain separated by just a single point. @Coma and @OrangeKhrush have the closest points battle going into the final race, but remember that the season predictions could shake up the table significantly when they are calculated after the season finale. Abu Dhabi predictions will be up tomorrow.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 16, 2022 Author Subscriber Share Posted November 16, 2022 Some quick projections ahead of the finale based on the current season predictions: @DeadLinesman is on track for 298 points + his Abu Dhabi score. @RandoEFC is on track for 286 points + his Abu Dhabi score. @Tommy is on track for 280 points + his Abu Dhabi score. With the championships, top threes, qualifying battles all settled, there isn't much left that can shift, between the top three at least, in the season standings. The main thing is that if a Constructor other than Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull or McLaren scores a podium, it will cost DeadLinesman 10 points as he predicted 4 Constructors to score podiums this season, making it a lot closer between the top three. This is an unlikely scenario though. There are a few scenarios where DeadLinesman or Tommy or both could lose 5 of the points they are currently projected through the Most Retirements pick. In all likelihood, though, the points above plus the scores from the last Grand Prix are what we're dealing with in terms of a champion.
Administrator Stan Posted November 16, 2022 Administrator Share Posted November 16, 2022 Think I'm still in for a big jump in points especially after Mercedes won at the weekend.
