Daniel Day-Lewis retires from acting

You can't knock 3 best actor Oscar's can you.

Probably would say Last of the Mohicans and Gangs of New York were the two I enjoyed most from him. Bill the Butcher was a brilliant villain.

Again? Oh well, shame. But he's only been in movies every 5-6 years anyway.

His technique can take toll on the person. The whole 'living like the character'. It killed Ledger and even affected Peter Sellers.

I hope he changes his mind, and if not, then good luck.

On a side note, this will mean that Phantom Thread will be a huge hit.

Obviously a great actor but hard to feel like anyone's losing out on anything as he rarely appeared in anything anyway.

Shame that the best actor in the last thirty years are some real rubbish in his filmography. The guy is so good he makes mediocre films like 'The Crucible' worth watching.

Amazing actor, one of the very few still around who lived the role and he was an actor not a celebrity.

Even though he chose his films wisely every few years, he also made a few poor choices with films, and a few bad ones.

you're all missing probably his best performance ever out.

Personally I loved Blood & Gangs

His performance in My Left Foot is the best performance in the past 30 years. Simply magnificent.
