Not surprising. The rot had set in towards the end of last season. He's been a bit unlucky with injuries but three goals in eight games and their position in the league is really bad.

I wouldn't be shocked if Nuno returned actually.

I wouldn't go for another Portuguese manager but Amorim is probably the best they could get if they're going down that path again.

They're in talks with Pedro Martins if rumours are to be believed. Doesn't seem to have the credentials whatsoever to manage a premier league club but to be fair he's probably no worse than the several washed up managers we've seen in the Premier League over the years who seem to get jobs for no reason.

Was quite obvious he'd go soon I think. Wasn't working. Very forgettable stint. Can imagine they'll replace with similar but will be gutted if they get Amorim.

I think it might end up being Lopetegui. Only a matter of time until he leaves Sevilla and he was nearly their manager a couple of years ago before the Spain debacle.

I wonder if they will sack Bruno Lage and ask Nuno to come back from the Al - Ittihad club in Suadi Arabia, they are sitting third in the table.

Wolves in talks with former boss Nuno over return

Wolves are in talks with Nuno Espirito Santo about their former manager returning to Molineux.

The club are conducting an extensive recruitment process after Spaniard Julen Lopetegui turned down the job.

Portuguese coach Nuno was effectively sacked in 2021 after a difficult season where performances dipped following successive seventh-placed finishes.

He remains popular with Wolves fans despite a brief, unsuccessful spell at Tottenham.

The 48-year-old was sacked by Spurs in November after just four months and 17 games in charge.

In July he was named coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad on a two-year contract.

Nuno's first stint with Wolves featured an impressive promotion to the Premier League in his first season in charge.

He also oversaw a run to the quarter-finals of the Europa League as the club returned to continental competition for the first time in 39 years.

However, momentum slowed significantly in his fourth and final season in charge with Wolves finishing 13th. The team won only three of his last 13 matches at the helm.

Fellow Portuguese Bruno Lage was sacked earlier this month after a poor run of form.

Wolves are in the relegation zone with just one win from nine Premier League games this season.
